Not every post here is a happy one. One of my goals here is to document Farm life, the good, the bad, and the ugly. This wild (feral ) goat perished in awful circumstances on a hill behind the house on my Property at Coonabarabran, Australia. I had walked up there to inspect this site which we planned on using for a couple of large water storage tanks. This is what i saw.

My first reaction was "who did this". But then after looking more closely, i realized what had happened. The Goat had come into our property through a fence and had got a long piece of broken off fencing wire hooked and wrapped around his large horns. He had dragged this long ( approx 25 meter) wire behind him all the way to the top of the hill, then got it tangled around the base of this small tree. It looks like he went around and around the tree for days trying to free himself but was unsuccessful.

He probably would have died the day i found him, but unfortunately it was too late. Poor Goat, it would not have been a nice way to die. Nobody would have known he was up there. So i named the Hill behind the house " Billy Goat Hill" in his memory.
