Perfectionism: Modern Problems Require Modern Solutions

in #lifestyle4 years ago

While doing something, if you have felt the urge to do everything error-free and 100% accurate, perfect, and appealing in the eyes of everyone, then congratulations, you have experienced perfectionism. This is not some made-up theory, it is real and it is all around us. Most of us are perfectionists, even though we don’t realize it. Perfectionists tend to strive to make everything perfect at any cost by setting high standards. A person who practices perfectionism is known as a perfectionist.

According to masslive.com, around 30% of the population is comprised of perfectionists. It’s not hard to tell if a person is a perfectionist. If you ask someone to do something and they reply, “I cannot do that,” they might be a perfectionist. Perfectionists tend to be shy when presented with a problem they’re not familiar with. Also, when they are in charge of people, they tend to give orders to people, which include words like “must, should,” etc.

Is perfectionism bad? Well, to some extent, yes, it is terrible. Children who are highly praised when they achieve the top score in their school often start to blive that the only way to get attention is through making good results. This shapes their brain and makes them perfectionists which can affect them negatively in the future because at some point in life, they will face failure. And that can cause them to feel devastated and expose them to the risk of trauma.

It is more important to grow a child as a realist than a perfectionist because life is full of uncertain events. Also, as adults, we should take into account that making mistakes is okay. We can accept those mistakes, learn the lessons and move on instead of clinging to the errors for days. After all, what good is your perfect work if it cannot bring a smile on your face?!!!!

Say no to perfectionism😉
