Welcome to my first blog in this series.
As Bob Proctor once said "If you do just a little research, it is going to become evident to you that anyone that ever accomplished anything, did not know how they were going to do it. They only knew they were going to do it"
Tips to Make a Successful Change
The following 10 tips are based on our experience when making our sea change. There are always going to be surprises along the way, however, to make the transition as smooth as possible then planning and research is vital to make your successful change.
Keep and open mind and research the areas of interest.
♥ Chose a location that potentially suits your lifestyle and spend some time there. Try going at different times of the year to obtain a realistic understanding of climatic conditions in the region.
♥ Is access to public transport, good schools and medical facilities important consideration in the decision process.
♥ Consider services such as specialist health care options you may need later in life.
♥ Complete your goal setting program and review each action regularly to keep on track. Keep your goals nearby e.g. on the fridge door and once you have achieved a goal - celebrate and review your goals again.
♥ Complete a financial plan. Need to obtain a bank loan for land in a regional area? Does the bank require the block to have access to power, gas, and water? Some banks won't finance rural blocks, particularly if they are rated a high fire region. Does the local council allow you to build on the land, set up your own solar/wind energy grid?
♥ Visit Regional expo's and get involved in the local community.
♥ Review job opportunities in your new location, consider becoming a business owner to maintain your current income levels.
♥ Arrive with an open mind and enjoy your new surroundings.
Remember don't fall into the tray of thinking that your new life will be like a holiday once you have made the move to your favourite part of the country or coastal town. Follow the 10 tips to make a successful change and I am sure you will enjoy the experience far more.
Other Considerations
While there are many pros and con's to any change we create in our life, there are always options out there to make the transition as successful as possible. Joining some Facebook groups to see what sort of experience other people were having creating their own new life in the region. It gave me the opportunity to start building a relationship and an avenue to start meeting new people.
Today our society is more transitional than ever and it is not uncommon for people to relocate several times in their lifetime. Keeping in touch with family and friends is easier than ever, whether, via Skype, Facebook, Google Hangouts, Instagram, the list goes on.
