The 5 Enemies of Inspired Living

in #life6 years ago

Consider the 5 essential keys already outlined as our friends for living an inspired life, and now let’s look at the 5 enemies.

1. Self Doubt

Self-doubt is the number one enemy for living an inspired life. It plays on our weaknesses and is capable of convincing even the greatest of saints and sages to forsake their path. Doubt plays on our weaknesses and given any space or opportunity, will rise up to the surface of our attention. Doubt kills more dreams and inner fire in people than anything else.

Doubt will come up and play on any area of weakness and will present if given any space to do so.

Doubt plays on those whose energy fields are a bit battered or weakened. The energy field can be weakened in a number of ways, from overwork and excessive use of drugs and alcohol to staying in unsupportive relationships, through to traumatic events, and chronic ill health as a result of poor food and lifestyle choices. Self-doubt is such a big player in the human experience that it often seems socially acceptable to doubt ourselves because so many people around us also do so. It seems to be such a common script that to be free of doubt and worry may actually make you feel a bit out of place in some circles.

When one's energy field is in a weakened state, the best action is to focus on being gentle and loving with yourself and ignoring what other people expect or want of you. When you become gentle with yourself, there will be a natural progression away from those activities or environments that don’t support your energy field. The only decision you have to make in such as state is to be focused and committed to being gentle and nurturing to yourself in some way, every day. By setting up that core motivation, things will become clearer and clearer for you.

When in a weakened state, I would advise to avoid making too many big decisions other than deciding to be gentle with yourself (which is a big one in itself for many). However, you may need to put yourself into a new environment or surround yourself with new people or even spend some time alone – to support your process. It takes most people 1-6 months of learning and practicing being gentle with oneself to build up their energy field so that doubt is no longer a big problem. It still may raise its ugly head from time to time, yet when the heart is strong, doubt doesn’t stay around for long.

If you leave no space for doubt,
doubt will not come up and bother you.

2. Complacency

Complacency leads to lack of innovation. Complacency means that we have become satisfied to some extent and we give up on continuing to learn or innovate. Therefore, complacency is dangerous because of its stagnating effect on our energy and personal development. So even if things may be working out well for you, in whatever area of your life, continue to be open and willing. Keep seeking support from mentors and people smarter than you because things can change in one instant.

3. Laziness

Laziness is really another expression of complacency, however, complacency indicates that willingness was originally present whereas laziness indicates that willingness was never fully established.

Laziness is also connected to procrastination and indicates a lack of connection and clarity on purpose or “soul mission”.

If you find yourself falling into laziness, re-examine the primary motivations and assess if those motivations are aligned with your true values. Laziness and procrastination are not present when our mind and heart are aligned with our “soul mission”.

4. Complaining

Complaining indicates a lack of self-esteem. Continuous complaining paralyzes the energy of willingness and invites in lower energy expressions such as hopelessness, shame, guilt, and anger, which weaken the human energy field.

It is natural for people to complain a little because it can be therapeutic in the fact that it brings increased awareness about a particular subject and can help relieve pent-up energy in the mind and body. However, it can easily lead to being harmful if one dwells in it or continues to entertain it.

As a general rule of thumb, emotions and some unhelpful or “negative” behaviors are natural for human being to go through and so we don’t want to suppress or run away from them. In a healthy and balanced individual, the emotion or behavior will run through them and pass away quickly, lasting fifteen to twenty minutes at the most. The problem comes when we engage in it, follow it, and continue to swim around in the unhelpful behaviors for extended periods and it becomes established. Therefore, it is good practice to become increasingly aware of any tendency to swim in negativity for extended periods so that we can snap ourselves out of it. Being aware of the tendency is the first major step to coming out of it. It is always much easier to snap oneself out of behaviors if our energy field is strong.

The stronger and healthier the energy field of the individual, the easier it is to be aware of and redirect our energy. The weaker our energy field, the harder it is to be aware of and redirect our energy and attention. That is why it is not always helpful or appropriate to approach things purely on the psychological level, even if it appears as primarily a psychological issue. If a person has a weakened energy field, then it is more effective to first focus on building up their energy field first. When their energy field is stronger, we can then much more effectively approach the psychological level.

5. Old beliefs/Limiting belief systems

Any idea, belief, or concept that we hold onto and are afraid to let go of is a hindrance to our growth and development. If we are really ready for change and growth, then we must be willing to drop old belief systems when we come across new ideas or concepts that serve us better.
