How to live an inspired life - 3rd Stage - Focus & concentration (Part 2)

Getting Organized

Being focused involves getting organized. Getting organized means putting systems in place so that a lot of simple tasks become automated. Setting up automated systems frees up your time so you can relax more often, spend more time in contemplation, and direct your fresh energy into those things that are most beneficial to take things to the next level. Examples would include hiring people to delegate your basic tasks to, setting up automated banking systems for paying your bills, and having payment system in place so that when people request your services or products, it's all automated and easy.

It can also be expressed in how you set up the furniture in your house so that you have easy to access to important things, how you file your paperwork, and even what style of clothes you wear (e.g., how long does it take for you to get dressed?).

The aim of being organized is to maximize your time and energy you have to put into those things that are the most important and minimizing the time and energy you spend on those things that aren’t so important or could be done by another person or an automated system, like a computer.

Practical exercise:

  1. Stop and reflect a moment. On average, how much time per week do you have available to spend on those things you really enjoy doing and those things that are most important to you and your business? Where does most of your time go?

  2. Now consider, could you hire someone or set up an automated process to take care of some of those things that take most of your time and energy?

Setting up these automated and supportive organization systems requires learning new skills, from hiring and firing to setting up computer software. How we go about this process is covered in the next key to inspired living – getting smart.

On Building Confidence

Focus doesn’t mean it’s going to be perfect, it means that it’s going to be completed. One completed project is better then twenty uncompleted ones.

“Art is never completed, only abandoned.”
~ Leonardo Da Vinci

Every time you complete a project, it gives you a confidence boost that you can take with you on the next project. Every project is a learning experience so early on, don’t expect it to come easy or be perfect. Naturally, you will find that the more you do it and repeat the processes, the better you get at it. With continued focus and practice, it’s just a matter of time before something “pops” and you will be triggered into a new, more advanced level where your projects will take on a more refined and better quality feel.

Confidence also involves backing yourself. How often do we say to ourselves, “I got this!”, “I know what I’m doing and I know who I am”, or “Golly gosh, I’m awesome!”

We seek these kinds of words from others, yet the whole time we could have been saying it to ourselves. When we fully claim our power, our presence, and our awesomeness, we will naturally feel more in control and confident on our path.

Practical exercise:

  1. Think of one subject or topic that really interests you. Now write down 10 ways you can learn more about it.

  2. If you have multiple projects, which one is closest to being completed? Put the others to the side and finish that one project!

  3. What worked for you in the past with your work or business? Do it again but this time, double the energy and effort.

  4. Write down your passion project into smaller parts. Knock off one part every day.

When we have integrity for balance, willingness for energy, and focus for direction, we need to bring in the next essential key, which is about intelligence.

Without intelligence, we will be too narrow with our understanding and will be limited in our capacity to function at higher levels. Getting smart and building our intelligence will help us to work with more people, manage more complicated projects, and yield a greater influence.
