I knew this was going to happen.

Last year, when I shouted about Steemit from the Facebook rooftops, I was greeted with replies of skepticism and doubt, as well as assurances that I was wasting my time and that it was unsustainable.

Then the price of Steem went down.

I kept my foot on the accelerator and still posted, although not nearly as frequently, and we continued doing the @SteemitTalk Podcast as close to weekly as we could (and did so pretty well, I might add!), and I kept sharing Steemit content on other platforms.

Lately, however, people have started coming to me about it on Facebook, thanks to @jessamynorchard amazing efforts and spreading the word. At first I didn't think anything out of the ordinary because periodically we'd get a friend to join up, but then it became more frequent. Then suddenly in the last few days, it's been a huge wave of people.

I posted my recent experiences here on Facebook via screenshot. What followed was the biggest and most positive response I've gotten over there thus far. Granted, there are only 11 likes, but the part that I like is the conversation in the comments below. LAST year, the tone had a 180º difference. It's as if here, a year later, they see that it's still going on and I'm still making money, and now they believe there may be something to this whole Steemit thing.

Evidently this is the case not just in my locale, but apparently all over the world. We've been hit with such an influx of new users since the Steem price jump that the sign up process (which must be approved manually) is extremely backed up, resulting in account validations taking up to a week.

That last bit is kind of inconvenient for new users, but I choose to see it as a symptom of a good problem to have.

@giftedgaia already has a similar (and much longer) post to this one, but I was already writing this up so he can kiss it. I'mma post mine anyway. LOL

I am absolutely certain there are many users reading this - mostly new ones - and thinking to themselves... this can't be real.

And let me tell you:

I was ONE of them.

Never believed in cryptos or another platforms....

Until I found STEEMIT last month.

Since then, I am HOOKED!

I have gone from not believing the platform to 100% knowing this is the FUTURE.

It's so fun to connect and engage and contribute your heart out.

And yes, the rewards can be alluring.

But more than, it's the satisfaction to see such an engaging and lively community enjoying our time together.

I am a convert, folks!

I surely am.

Hehe. Just tried playing with randowhale! Pretty cool!

I definitely remember that feeling when all of this was brand new to me. It's different for me now, because it's nearly a year later, I'm much more educated about this place, and this time I'm screaming it from the mountaintops.

I know the struggle. I have tried to sign people over and explained it all out to them. Since I live on the beach. Yesterday I spent 3 hours on the boardwalk handing out flyers I made and trying to get people to sign up to steemit from my iPad. In total by the end of the day I only had 6 people sign up. I hate to say this but they reminded me of sheep! They want to stick with what they know. The number 1&2 responses were it seems complicated and it can't be true. I showed them my posts and everything. Nothing! Don't worry @winstonwolfe your hard work shows here and Eventually I see more people coming here.
Are we just ahead of the curve or are they just behind! Kidding. Thanks for your time and post.

The biggest question I ran into - as i'm sure most people do - was "Where does the money come from?"
I'm not the most technical person, so I never really had a good way to break it down. Ultimately, I think the best teach in this case was time. "Oh, you're still making money from that weird Steemit thing you were talking about last summer? Hmmm....."

It was the same for me with Facebook 11 years ago, when Russians had sat in its clone 'vkontakte' - nobody wanted to go to Facebook.. Now everybody is on Facebook... Following you now

Looking forward to the time when my blog payouts will be worth a Facebook style blog like this. Failing that I'll just use yours or @giftedgaia s!

I notice a lot of New steemians come to join, And i am sure that is because of a lot of us are promoting on Facebook. I am even thinking of just getting a Facebook account only for promoting steemit!

Awesome man! Just wait till Steem hits $10.. people will be flooding in. I keep telling my friends FB has died, but 95% of the users don't realize it yet. I think they will soon

Yeah! I don't know why most of my friends communicate via Facebook. Thought I honestly think it's time Steemit has its own DM feature. We lack that.

Check out http://busy.org. It's Steemit with a whole different interface, with features like that added on it. You can make Steemit posts from there and everything. Pretty cool.

I am some1 who dont like facebook, twitter, instagram and co. And it would be really awesome when steemit surpasses them one day!

Im trying to keep patience and stay but its kinda difficult tbh :(

Let's look into this together: What's difficult about it?

its just that my post do not get much views. 6 views max. how is it that i can reach out to more ppl

If you're not already, I recommend to just keep doing what you're doing now, which is interacting with other authors. Keep making yourself visible. As you do this, you will gain followers who will help you be more visible by commenting on and resteeming your posts so their followers can see them.
For the first little while, it's like trying run up a bit of a steep incline, but keep going and give it time and you'll start seeing the rewards. ;-)

In fact, there you go. You just got a new follower. :)

U are such a good motivator. Thank u for all that u told me. I will surely keep trying :)

Haven't really posted on Facebook but I personally told my friends about it and some were interested but they haven't joined yet.

Your work will be rewarded. Keep going!

you deserve those money, well done!

Followed and upvoted!

holy crap $361 in 33 minutes!

Yeah I wasn't expecting that. Color me grateful. :)

I don't have a lot if fake book followers because I just, well hated fake book, that's what I call it.
Bunch of people posting their dinner or stupid crap, but HERE I've learned so much about crypto and steem, it's a whole new world! Loving it.

way to go wolfe :) keep steem powering on

I enjoy all your posts so please keep it up look where you are now, somethng to be proud of.

Good to read such stories and the changes in attitude. I have a number of followers on G+ and FB but am still learning my way round Steemit so haven't promoted it yet. Soon :-)

Good strategy. It's difficult to answer some of the questions early on, particularly "Where does the money come from?" I still don't have a short answer for ones like that.

It's a great day to be alive!

Alive... as a Steemer. ;-)

up and down and up and down....that's the trend..... :)

Thanks for sharing your FB post screenshot.

Thanks for sharing such kinds of beneficial things for steemit. i am new here.. So i need your support. And i am very much hopefull steemit will give us a prosperous achievement @winstonwolfe

You might want to consider redacting (blotting out) people's names. Just sayn.

Otherwise. yep. There's been the explorer wave, the wave of early fur traders and other capital risk takers, now the settlers are starting to think it's safe. Watch out!

I have made money from Steemit, too, more than I did running my own blog with ad revenues. If I were more active here (having a day job cuts down on my time), I could probably make way more.

So how should one go about for making a living off of posting articles on steemit? If the steemit value decreases, doesn't it mean that less people are going to use it, thus resulting in less income for writers? I look forward on reading your reply, because I plan on spending a lot of time on this platform in order to make quite some money.

Good question. I actually recently posted an article that addresses that.

Thanks, I have read it and will take note of it :D
