At 9 years old, he used his savings to feed stray dogs,
Today he drives his own protector. Ken Amante (now 13 years old) always worried about taking care of street animals. The netizens learned about his story and helped him fulfill his dream.
This is a beautiful and inspiring story starring Ken Amante, a 13-year-old boy from the Philippines. A few years ago, Ken left home with a backpack full of food, which he bought with his own money.
One day in 2014, when Ken's father decided to find out what his son's adventures were, he followed him and was surprised to see that the boy was feeding a small group of stray dogs in the area. The dogs were in disrepair, skinny and poorly maintained, but that never mattered to Ken.
The boy baptized them as Brownie, Whitey and Blackie, and the three puppies were swollen and full of wounds from scabies, a disease that they contract when their fur falls off. The dogs accepted all the food Ken gave them, but without first doubting their intentions and their confidence.
Ken's father was moved to the core, took pictures of the moment and shared them in Imgur, a huge online repository of images. And as expected, the "Ken phenomenon" took social networks by storm and the images went viral in a few hours. Ken's charitable actions were gaining more and more strength, and netizens began to help him with money and support from all over the world.
Although Ken was only 9 years old at the time, his dream of life was very clear: to open a shelter for animals "without death" or for profit. And thanks to the donations of his patrons throughout the planet, he managed to gather the necessary resources and, on March 31, 2014, Ken inaugurated The Happy Animals Club, the first protector of animals of that style in the Davao region, Philippines .
To install the shelter, Ken's family managed to rent a 930 square meter ground cloth and completely fenced it so that the animals did not escape. Ken insisted that the animals - dogs, cats and any kind of animal that needed help - should eat imported food so as not to affect their health, among other concerns.
The three puppies that Ken fed at the beginning were the first to be part of this protector: Whitey, Brownie and Blackie were treated by veterinarians and were left in a safe space. His wounds healed soon, the scabies disappeared and his fur grew again.
The Happy Animals Club continues to function successfully to this day. According to its website, since its opening they have rescued more than 100 abandoned and sick animals, in addition to giving food to the hungry street beings.
Ken never thought, not even in his wildest dreams, that a simple act of kindness would result in something as great as what he achieved. The boy is the living proof that caring for animals, whatever their origin, has a nice reward!
The father also deserves recognition! So many parents would scold their children for playing with them "dirty dogs" instead of doing something "really important" such as filling your brain with academic bs. Great story and thanks for sharing!
