Why run?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Running for exercise seems like a good thing to most people, which infact it is. But some people fail to understand that running in general is great, not just for exercise but even for fun. Most runners would agree with me in saying this, so here I am to tell you why you should run for exercise and leisure.

Health Benefits

Running has various health benefits and some of them I will be describing in my post today.

Weight Loss

Lets start with the obvious one, if you run you will lose wait, and lets put emphasis on that will. The average number of calories that you will lose during a one hour running session is around the 1000 calories mark, thats half of a average males calories per day! That means you must eat well before so you are not getting less then you need.

Mental Health

If you are a regular runner this is known to boost your mood and help with self esteem. Another thing almost in a simbiotic relationship with your mental health is your self confidence. You will feel much happier with yourself once you see that you have lost a lot of weight and this will help with going at and social events.

Immune System

Another thing about running which not many people know that it is known to increase your immune systems strength. Further causing a lot of runners to do so, it also boosts your immunity against minor ailments. This includes colds, allergies tiredness and backaches.

Happiness

This is another thing that ties in with weight loss, if your main goal to run is to lose weight than seeing yourself is very beneficial to your happiness as you have achieved a goal you wanted to achieve. It also makes you happy by releasing endorphins which is like a high like sensation of happiness, free drugs! Running is also known to increase your humour so you may be going out and laughing at the slightest of things, which when not too much is a great thing.

Burning Fat

This is another one close to weight loss, when you run you run you build up lean muscle which boosts your metabolism. Lean muscles do weigh more than fat but lean muscle burns more calories even whilst resting!

The social aspect

If you have friends who run then you are more likely to go out running with them as they are your friends and you would not like to let them down, but you also build a greater bond with that one or group of friends. You can spend more time with the people you love being around with and you can also engage in conversations further helping wit the friendship. And it will also help you as you can see in the list above.

Running is great indeed :)
Please take trainers with you when you will fly to Poland We will run :)

oh gosh with 35 degrees? I don't think I will do it

When I used to be an athlete I ran for extra training. But now, after having stopped for over 10 years, I still get the urge to go running every now and then.

The feeling afterwards is always great.

Pro-tip: get yourself good running shoes and get a device to monitor your heart rate.

great tips :) thank you

I love running. Definitely good for mental well-being! There's been times when I've had a banging headache from stress and after a good running session, felt completely better. Love the feeling after a run!

great to know :) happy it helps you feeling better

It makes the person feel good as the body is oxygenated efficiently by an efficient heart of a runner. It also strengthens bones.

Why not run? Knee problem. Some people have them but the next best thing is brisk walking. :-)

I agree and understand... feeling a knee problem since I started this job... but honestly I think it is the best thing to do!

I tend to do like 3 miles per day on average.
