Being a first generation American I did not really get into American music until I was a teen. However, I listened to a lot of rock music as a child. My Jamaican parents had an affinity for the genre. In the background of my life growing up I would hear Reggae, Dance Hall and Soca music, but I would also hear old rock music sprinkled in between. Even today my hip hop songs are heavily influenced by Rock. With how much Rock music was a part of my life it is strange that I don’t know much about the history of the genre.
Today I woke up to a google alert saying that Fats Domino has passed away at the age of 82. He died of natural causes. I decided to take a moment out of my day and watch a PBS documentary about his life. A small gesture to honor someone that contributed and influenced an art form that has permeated my life.
CHECK OUT HIS STORY FEATURED IN THE PBS SERIES AMERICAN MASTERS.

GOT TO KEEP IT REAL ON #STEEMIT
This makes me sad. Fats is one of the original Rock N' Rollers. He started what a ton of people copied. All of the greats are passing away so fast!
