Hi there ! Indeed they forbid electric “trottinette” (very light scooter 🛴) as they are VERY dangerous.
When they were launched they could go as fast as 80km/hour and were causing a lot of accidents on the sidewalk.
I think this is a good thing but now that they are on the road with cars in Paris there are some deaths (especially teenagers) as they get reckless on the road with it.

I believe that the biggest problems are that the rulers do not want this type of means of transport and are doing everything to get a little tax of it.
