Nostalgia.
When I make chocolate chip pancakes I think of my childhood and the sleepovers I’d have at my friends house. There were three of us and we were so bad. We’d hide and jump out to scare one another, have surprise colored marker battles and once I remember my friend getting locked in her dogs kennel. Not my idea but I had a good laugh over it.
In the morning we’d wake up to the sounds of the dogs barking and then slowly head towards the kitchen to make pancakes. Which is where the skill comes from. Every now and then I burn the first one, it happens to best of us.
I love watching the air bubbles form on top. It’s oddly satisfying.
And when you’re able to successfully flip your pancake without any splatters or burns then you know you’ve done good.
For the sleepover last night my nephew packed four large plushies, a blanket, his suitcase with his clothes and his PS4. Haha, whatever it takes to get comfortable I guess!
After breakfast and a few chores, I decided to take some quiet time to myself. The kids were playing nicely together, which hasn’t always been the case. My nephew’s a Leo and @guthrie’s a Leo cusp so they’re always trying to take the lead, one up each other and both have fragile emotions. Today, I had little to worry about except for some odd behavior.
I came downstairs to the kitchen to start lunch and @guthrie ran into the living room saying that he had something that he needed to share with me. I was a bit of a skeptic but I stopped what I was doing to see what was up. Behind me, I heard little footsteps running into the kitchen and then back into the game room. I asked @guthrie what he so desperately needed to show me and he just smiled and said, “I love you!” As a reward for his trick I squished his cheeks with my soapy wet hands (I was doing dishes) and walked back into the kitchen to discover....
Miniature snakes on the floor! Now I understood why I heard my nephews footsteps. I laughed really hard at their attempt to prank me and both kids seemed pleased with themselves. @guthrie revealed that they had been planning this while I was taking quiet time.
I went upstairs to tidy up the blankets my nephew used during last night’s sleepover and spotted this on the chalk board. 🤣 What a bunch of goofballs.
My brother, sister, and I used to play Barber Shop when we were left to our own devices. We're talking bald patches, mullets, mohawks.. The only issue was that my brother was always the barber, and we were his victims.
Hahaha!!! My brother and I also played barbershop with my cousins. I had to shave my head because my hair was a mess. My mom was pissed!!😄
Oh, of course! you have to be comfortable, your nephew knows that very well.
The pancakes, wow I really enjoy doing it, I think sometimes the first one usually happens to that, it's a hihihi test.
the others will come out better.
oh! I loved the blackboard, it's very funny! they agreed to make a joke.
I think it will not succeed because your pet is bigger.
anyway they are very sweet hehehe
This is hilarious I remember that fun time as a child when you'd try to 'pull one over' on the grown ups. Though I spent most of my childhood days alone, when My niece who is only a few years younger than me, would get to come over for extended visits we'd have SO much fun!
It's lovely to be able to call up the joy and pure elation you feel as a child playing simple games.
