Hey guys!
My name is Rupert Erde and I have been on steem for about a little over a week. I've had a couple of my first micro-payouts and I've been truly lit up about it. In this post I'm going to go a little over the recent developments in my life.
I had passion in high school, I had life. I had a reason to get up every day, and this was athletics. I was an exceptional athlete to say the least, and I'm modest as much as I feel uncomfortable stating it. When I got into high school, by the time I graduate I had participated in four varsity sports.
The first sport I got involved in was cross country, it was my weakest sport.
During the busiest times of the year, I managed to have to go to up to four exercise sessions a day. After cross country my bud and I would run over to do special teams for football. We were the kickers for the team.
The next sport was my bread and butter. I was known around town for it. I was actually even known in the region for it. I had been participating in swimming since the age of four. Swimming had been my passion since I was the age of ten probably.
Swimming was awesome, but nothing came close to pole vaulting on the track team. I was also known around the region for pole vaulting. I was one of the best in Ohio at the time. I had pulled on of the best heights in Ohio my senior year, but I biffed at regionals and didn't get the opportunity to continue to state. Coach would also throw me around to acquire points for the team. I was high point earner for a couple years I believe.
Sports were the next best thing for me. They occupied my time and my mind. My mind was locked onto them, I would even think about them in the classroom. I wasn't just an athlete, but I was an honorable scholar as well.
After two years of high school, due to boredom, I searched and found a program that would allow me to accelerate my studies. An embedded technical school in my area offered a program called College Now. This was an accelerated program that allowed high school students to begin college for free. The students would study mechanical - electric engineering for two years and graduate with a degree. I graduated from college a month before I graduated from high school.
This was me in our engineering workshop. I was a type of goon. In here we would tinker on electric systems in converted vehicles. My buddy and I created a small hovercraft. A group was working on creating a diesel hybrid that was three wheels, it was called the XR-3.
Here's a photo of that car.
High school was different for me. I am very grateful for the opportunities that I was handed. I had a sweetheart, we later separated when arriving to my second college. We both attended the University of Akron. Ellie Frye, sweet small town girl. She was intelligent, caring, mellow, and overall a great woman to be involved in my life. Here's a photo of my high school sweetheart.
This has just been the beginning of my journey. In these years I was mindlessly going through actions on a daily basis. Each year after, I have woken a little more. I know it's a lot to post, so I'll break my post-high school past down into another post.
