Trump Pardons Ross Ulbricht and 1500 J6 Political Prisoners

in #lifeyesterday (edited)

Just saw this and am very pleased for Ross. He was scapegoated for doing nothing more than enabling voluntary commerce between free people, while scumbag feddies literally stole the proceeds and lied under oath. His sentence was cruel, unusual, and completely unjust, and this is no less than he deserved.

IMG source - BBC.com - US President Donald Trump says he has signed a full and unconditional pardon for Ross Ulbricht, who operated Silk Road...convicted in 2015...

Let's hope there's a continuing reduction in criminality of government going forward, which is utterly critical to the survival of the USA.

Edit: Roger Ver next?

His sentence seemed disproportionate to other people who sold vast quantities of narcotics using the site - I grasp this a different argument than the one you are making.

The opioid epidemic was demonstrably worse than a 100 silk roads combined but "legal".

You're right. As a natural born human, I am unconvinced that some other humans have any right to demand authority over me, or anyone else, and that underlies my primary objection to Ross's conviction. I reckon the fundamental criminality inherent to those making such unjust demands of authority spilled over into blatant theft by fraud of evidence in Ross's case, and a vast array of further insults added to the cruel injury he personally - but all humanity - suffer as a result of such insuperable claims.

But, not only didn't he commit any crimes by refusing to respect criminals claiming authority to determine what commerce free, sovereign, natural born people can undertake, the relative claims of harm he was even accused of pale in comparison to myriad far more deadly frauds the pharmaceutical, insurance, and medical corporations get away with every day, exactly as you point out.

Thanks!

That was a pleasant surprise, to see Ross get pardoned! I was glad it happened, and I want to be more optimistic about improvements in the near future. This is a good one for that!

I remain confident our mutual humanity will be fundamental to our felicity, to the happiness and prosperity of our beloved posterity, far more deeply and integrally than we can imagine. You are quite right.

Thanks!

The way Ross was caught; them staging a woman in trouble, and then when he went to help, grabbed his laptop… no good deed goes unpunished.

The whole thing really frosts my cookies.

I am glad he is out. I wish those destroyers of justice get their just deserts.

We need the large, criminal gang to save us from large criminal gangs taking over. Rigggghhhhttt

And what they tried to do to the J6 crowd. "If you accept the pardon, you are admitting to the guilt". How evil can the DOJ be?

"How evil can the DOJ be?"

Sadly, I am sure we will know too well, for too long, to too much regret we didn't do more to oppose it.

Thanks!

Very interesting Trump Gabe full pardon instead of just commuting his sentence with time served. Not expected at all! This is amazing!

One of the reasons we can have to hope for our posterity is this act of humanity Trump has effected. That plant in Ross's hand in your picture poignantly symbolizes human interdependence on life, on the biosphere, and the inhumanity of what Ross has been subjected to for the last decade. Let's hope we can reduce, and even eliminate, such inhumanity and environments that so exclude biological life that cause a man to so cherish a little plant in a lifeless place.

The greatest hope of humanity is abundant life, and increasing it is always good.

Thanks!

Go glad he's out. Needed to happen. Funny how the supposed "tyrant" is releasing many people who were harshly persecuted by...

It's rare for campaign promises so easily forgotten to be so quickly kept.

Thanks!

Looking forward to more kept promises.

Actually he pardoned 'Ulbright' who is the wrong guy

LOL

Typos matter, but I saw a pic of Ulbricht walking free, so that may have been rectified in the institutional dreck of paperwork that followed the pardon.

Thanks!

Do you think that the crimes of individual drug dealers like Ross are less sinful than those committed by the state and pharmaceutical companies?
Hmm, I agree with some of your arguments because Ross served his sentence in prison for 9 years!😆Dear @valued-customer !

I had a dangerous fantasy that you wanted to put Bill Gates, Biden and Trump in jail!

"Do you think that the crimes of individual drug dealers like Ross are less sinful than those committed by the state and pharmaceutical companies?"

Yes. The increased power to act corporations are undertaken to effect demonstrably creates far greater suffering when it is employed in disregard to sound principles, and most when in opposition to our mutual affection and fraternity as people.

Claims of authority over others are contrary to reason, and the demonstrable authority each individual has over themselves, and only go further awry the more deeply and widely they are imposed. Corporations are obfuscations of our personal liability that necessarily pertains to our acts, and make cruelty more regrettable the more it is facilitated by institutional power to everyone that supports such institutions.

I am confident that actors that are not held to account for evil deeds will continue to commit them, and while we can rejoice that Trump has undone an evil committed against Ross, what evil he has not undone may cause far more woe than we can even comprehend as the medical military industrial complex continues to wreak havoc in the future. At least we can take the good with the bad, today.

Thanks!

I am sure Ross has violated the laws of many countries, but none of those laws are just. I have yet to see the video*, and appreciate the exposition you provide, but insofar as Ross is guilty only of refusing to allow others to impose their authority over sovereign people to conduct commerce as they see fit I will understand he is only 'guilty' of being naturally born a man with full authority over himself.

Thanks!

Edit: *I am deeply digging into analysis of the flurry of executive orders and the far reaching implications of some of the more politically consequenctial presently.
