Rain forest is hostile IMO mainly because of insects and poison snakes.
My friends met Bushmaster (Lachesis muta)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachesis_muta in Venezuela and it was one of most dangerous events in their life and they are experienced travelers (South America, Africa, Asia 2x yearly for last 20 years) Bad luck is enough to die.
To @marcelli swimming in Brasil is interesting hobby. Look at my post https://steemit.com/photography/@valtr/piranha-fishing-brasil

Oh it's true that it can be dangerous.. but that's why I highly recommend to get a local tour guide and follow all the advices they will give you there. Some people thing they can do everything and this is when mistakes happened. Rather than saving money with a tour guide, it's important to pay for it and accept when they say it's bad time to go somewhere or the road is not safe enough.. Thanks for your link! I will have a look and leave a comment soon!
