RE: Are We Hiding Our True Self Behind A Mask?

in #life6 years ago

This is a great piece. I totally relate to this piece. I had a very bad set of teeth which made it hard for me to smile or laugh because of fear of being mocked. I was humiliated alot of times because of this. It made me inferior. It made me want to try suiside. I actually hated it when people talked about my bad set of teeth. I was given many names in high school like " teeth doctor", "teeth prophet", "mr teeth" "uncle teeth", "African Map teeth". I lost my boldness and confindence and because I couldn't face it again, I had to see a dentist. Now the teeth is ok. And I now fit in well. Now I am masked. I have seen a lot of people succeeding in life because of their scars. People loving them for being bold to carry the scars around. Sometimes I regret wearing this mask but what to do? Its a lesson I have learnt. Thanks again for this

Hey! I know being humiliated and bullied makes one feel really inferior and depressed. But, we should be strong enough and just ignore those kind of people, their comments and behavior represents themselves not others. And always remember this, “If they don’t know you personally, don’t take it personal”.

And yeah, you are not wearing a mask, so no need to feel bad about it. Because taking care of personal health and wearing a mask of beauty using those artificial things are two different sort of things. As, They say bad set of teeth can create problems in future, so you just cared for your health.

So, don’t feel inferior. Life is really beautiful, just enjoy every moment and all phases of life :))

Awwwwn thank you so much for this. Its relieving
