Everyone should wear their babies!
I was going to use some Christmas money to buy a baby wrap off of Amazon. I was going to buy a Moby brand wrap that was $40, but happened to find one used for only $15 and I'm so glad I did! It wound up being so much easier to use than I thought it would be (I watched YouTube videos and nailed it!), and it's super comfy. I am enjoying wearing my baby girl so much. She sleeps so well wrapped against me and it gives me two arms to chase my little toddler dude around more freely.
My son didn't like baby carriers at all. He didn't like being restrained and still doesn't. It's hilarious to me how different babies can be! Little boy wants to go, go, go all the time and little girl wants to snuggle. I am so enjoying watching both of their different personalities develop!
Wearing my baby girl is really convenient and it is just another awesome way for us to bond. (I am soaking up every second of her because now I know how fast they grow; my baby boy is almost three!). The wrap distributes her weight evenly so it doesn't hurt my back whatsoever. It feels just like I have a big belly again minus the lower back pain, waddle, and need to pee every five seconds, haha!
I plan on wearing baby girl as long as I can, as long as she likes it. I can do so much more with her safely snuggled against me and I am enjoying it so much. I don't want her to grow!
Aww your baby is so cute!
Does this make your baby an accessory?
Where do you recommend buying this from? My friend just had their baby and I can see them appreciating a gift like this.
Haha, I guess it does! Cutest accessory ever!
I was going to buy mine on Amazon, but I wound up finding a used one locally through FB marketplace. The Moby brand can easily be found on several websites, though!
I used to. He is a bit mega now!
That's no excuse!
Yup, I wear my baby too. Rather, I'm using a baby carrier from babybjörn, sweden, which costed, unfortunately, 200 euros. Pretty wxpensive, if you ask me. However, it's a gift from the parents. So no complain.
The baby bonding will be worth the price! :)
Yess, it was like being pregnant for another 8 months. Loved it!
That is totally what it feels like! :)
This is a great post :) I don't have any kids but will definetly do this if I get some :)
Yes, you definitely should! :)
That is awesome... It brings the bond and maternal bind alive with the child. It is a good ideation.
It is great for bonding!
I love your baby wrap!
Me too! :D
I did. All of them and we all loved it. I even started a series of posts here on steemit on different kinds of carriers during the babywearing week but I never got to finish that series during do my illness but I've put it on my to-do list for this year to finish them.
We used slings, woven wraps, ssc and mei tais, but I've never tried an elastic wrap like the one you have. I'll be sure to link to this post when I continue my series.
That's great! I have only tried one carrier that straps on, but it wasn't comfortable. The Moby wrap is very comfy!
Wich one did you try? Buckle carriers (Soft structured carriers or SCCs) can be very uncomfortable if they don't offer good support for both the baby and the mom (or dad). You can maybe find a sling library nearby and try different types of carriers out. Elastic wraps like moby tend to become uncomfortable as the baby grows bigger (heavier). If you like wrapping, woven wraps are good. I had a Croatian brand but I am sure there are great ones where you are from too.
I tried an Infantnio sash tying one with my son, but he didn't like it. And then I tried a Chicco strap one that just didn't feel secure enough.
Thanks for the tip! If and when the Moby one gets uncomfortable, I will look into woven ones!
If you decide to give ssc another go try ergonomically optimal ones like Tula or Ergobaby. Good luck with babywearing.
Thank you! :)
Lot of mom in the world are wear their baby, its so simple and make their activities easier
Yes, it does make things easier!
I tried this with my furry child. She starts out frozen and awkward, but then instantly changed to big paws flailing. Maybe my dog has a similar personality to your son?
But seriously, the obvious benefits of hands-free baby holding is undeniable. Gives mamas a chance to care for themselves and others that much easier.
Haha! Your furry buddy would get along great with my son. ;)
Yes, there are so many benefits! Plus, it's fun!
Nice sweater good idea
Thanks!
They have such cool stuff now for babies. It would have made vacuuming much easier had I used one of these! I agree so much with the bonding part. I used any excuse to hold my babies when they were little. Great post!
Oh, it does make vacuuming easier! I love holding my babies! :D
Muchas gracias! Dios te bendiga!
Wow ! very nice, wearing your baby is more secure than carrying it by your hands.
Yes, the wrap is very secure when tied correctly! :)
Beautiful baby! I'm not mommy yet, but I would love to wear my baby :)
You should totally wear your baby in the future! :)
I love baby wearing! My bestie came by shortly after our twins arrived with a wrap in hand, loaded with a step-by-step tutorial. She leant me two wraps, and a SSC. Eventually, we picked up the twingo carrier and were also leant a ring sling. I was hoping to wear these bubs tandem (hence the twingo), alas the weather has been too cold to do so. Thankfully, the carrier can be split apart for 2 people to be able to wear. In fact, it was a ring sling to the rescue while I cooked breakfast and made much needed coffee this morning (baby boy needed cuddles). Then the hubs and I went grocery shopping and each wore a baby. They are way less fussy when they are getting cuddles and can see new places, faces and objects. Baby wearing for the win! -Aimee
It's so much fun to read about your experience wearing your twins together! I appreciate the wrap for one baby, so I can only imagine how much I would appreciate it with two! Way to go, mama! :)
Yep, I wear mine. There are some funny pictures over the years of me doing things like pruning bushes and playing piano and cooking with a baby strapped on board. I don't know that I'd be that fond of wearing them since it definitely makes everything more work, but since it keeps the babies quiet and occupied I do it for convenience. I got a Moby-type wrap for the first time with this fourth baby and I'm much happier with it than the Bjorn carrier since it puts a lot less stress on my back and shoulders. My son likes it because he curls into it like he's still inside and will sleep in there for hours if I let him. Fourth trimester...
It may slow you down, but you can do just about anything while wearing baby! Baby girl sleeps super well wrapped against me, too! Haha, yes, totally the fourth trimester!
There's only one thing I've found I don't do while wearing the babies: canning. Until you can wear them on your back. Because it's actually a little frightening handling all the boiling hot stuff with a baby between you and the boiling stuff. Plus if they wriggle at just the right time it can get really disturbing. So they get relegated to the bouncy chair for that kind of thing.
I've also found that as I'm getting older I have to pick my places for baby wearing or my back can get really sore - and also that the soft wraps are important for when the babies are little because the tighter straps on the harness style wraps can cause mastitis (true story...yikes). I'm always so annoyed when I can't just do everything I expect to do, but I am learning I can do a lot more if I'm careful about such details!
Oh, yes, no hot stoves or boiling water! It would also be hard to shower, lol.
Ew, I hadn't thought about tight wraps and mastitis! I guess you just have to learn what works for you personally. :)
You know what in Hong Kong parents they just carry babies with baby stroller instead of wearing them. For me babies just need to be close to their parents all the time when they are still 'babies'. I'm quite happy you talk about it! Gonna share it with my family and friends how important it is to wear baby!! Thank you for sharing:)
Yes, babies need to be held as close as possible! I am so glad you're going to share the idea of baby wearing! :)
So happy I found another mommy in the Steemit community!!! 🤗
Aw! Hello, fellow mommy!
Yes I did wear my baby all the time and he loved it so much. He still prefer me wearing him hihi. I started with a night when he was about 9 months because he was already so heavy. With 9 month his weight was 13 kilo can you believe it!! But I didn't really wanted to stop wearing him, it is so nice to feel his small body so near and him to feel save and secure. Love your article and happy you wrote about it! Thanks a lot!
Yes, it is wonderful to feel your baby so close, safe and secure. :)
Yes it is!! I would do the same with the next one!
I can bee seen at times wearing a few of my thousands of babies. lol... They latch on pretty easily!
Wraps and slings are way better than the normal carriers
Even the baby feels better in them
So close to their mom and comfy and u can carry the baby in a way easier and more comfortable positions
I love them
I totally agree!
YES YES YES
I really enjoy to have my babies close to my heart. I was doing almost everything with my first one like that.
And BTW you look amazing , so beautiful .
Yeah babying wearing is so great in so many ways, for a baby to spend almost 10 months inside of you and then be born it just made sense to me that I would wear them all. My first two I wore till they were 2 and now my youngest who's 8 months is asleep on me as I write. It makes it more relaxing for all involved, she can smell me I can smell her. I love wraps the most. Thanks for the great post. Following you now
I carried all my children in these wraps. It was the most supportive way to carry them and easy to do once i'd got the hang of it. I do Aerial silks too so I must have a thing about long strips of fabric!
It has been really cold here and my husband has been wearing our dog in his coat. The little Rat Terrier Max loves it.
Yes I do and love every moment!!! Babywearing makes being a mom so much more precious!
