The way society is structured today, we all have been believing that there is a way of doing things in life and a set time to have done all those things. When you are a child, you are told that you need to first complete your school, then college and then you need to get a job. Each one happens after the other and we are expected to accomplish these goals by a certain age.
Even if you start your own business after your education, there is a psychologically fixed time frame in people’s minds by which you have to be “successful” and if you are past that age, you are often looked down upon and even you yourself might feel frustrated because you haven’t achieved your goals and you keep getting that feeling that time is running out.
We are always in fear of failing and having to start all over again. We think that after a certain age, we can’t start setting goals, whether they are related to career or other things. But the fact of the matter is that it is simply never too late to start setting goals and working towards something, no matter how old you get. The world is filled with such examples and you should really read about them.
It Is You, Early or Late
If you achieve success at 25, or at 35, it is you who is achieving it, right? Yeah, reaching there sooner is something we would all like and I think that would feel really good too, but even if you do it at a later age, it is still you crossing that finish line, so does it really matter?
Let’s say you want to totally change your career path and want to quit your job and pursue your life long dream of becoming a musician. Even though you might “think” that it is too late, you really aren’t because it’s still you. Doesn’t matter what the society thinks or says. They are not the ones living your life and they are not the ones with your dreams. You are!
So, if you are 50 and want to start a YouTube channel and have fun creating content for millions of users to enjoy, go do it! If you want to start writing after having been in a managerial position your entire life, go do it! It’s never too late.
Real Life Examples
Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC went through a number of jobs including steam engine stoker and insurance selling before he finally found success through his KFC chain of restaurants and that too at an age when most people get retired.
Alan Rickman, who played the popular character of Professor Snape in the Harry Potter movies, got his big break when he was 42 years old and we all know how great an actor he is.
Henry Ford who is credited to have created the first affordable automobile ever found success when he turned 45, which launched a multi-billion dollar company, creating many more millionaires over the years.
History, and even the present is filled with such examples which prove that age is just a number and all you need to do to achieve your goals and dreams is the right attitude. Don’t think. Just do it.
life is a journey that we invest in and we need to plan for it , setting goal helps you achieve what ou want, when we set the goals it becomes easy to work through it
That is absolutely correct. :)
Hmm... This is just so motivating. Those real life examples you mentioned just got me going.

This is so true! I'm currently working on a new career by teaching myself webdevelopment. And even though my career path just started 3 years ago I already thought it's too late to change. Nowadays I'm also convinced it's not as like you said I only have this one life, so it's never too late!
Exactly. It's never too late to change directions at all. If life gives us a chance of living the life we want to live, then we should at least try.
Nice and motivational
I love your example of Colonel Sanders and the KFC. I've read his story several times. He is a great example of a person who accomplished great success much later that many of us expect. It's never too late. Some things may take more time but we all have a unique journey. There are yoga instructors in their 70'.
I have read his stories several times as well and it always motivates me.
