in #life7 years ago

Greetings Everyone!

Earlier this week Tpot started an initiative to publish blogs on the community account. This would not just help the minnow writers to get noticed that would otherwise struggle, but would also keep the community account active and hopefully get noticed by more users.

This is my first write up for Tpot community so I hope you would connect with me on this & I would love to have your feedback at the end. So sit back, grab some munchies or drinks & if you relate to me on any of the points in this blog, then share a thumbs up.

So, today I am going to talk with you about Time management.

Time Management

As we all know everyone have 24 hours a day & what we do in those 24 hours determines where we are today & where we will lead ourselves in the future. This is called "Life" right!?

So, let's get into this.

Time management is known as task management, completing every task in a limited amount of time is quite a difficult task & unlike some, most people are not able to complete their tasks which often leads to stress, anxiety, depression, and failure etc. For a long period of time, I wasn't able to manage my time on daily basis which made me more anxious, and I just kept thinking about it which is the exact opposite of it, I was not utilizing time. I was just wasting time & creating all sorts of illusions in my mind, that if I do this or that and what if? or how? Literally thousands of questions popped up in my mind to which I had no answer & still I was not able to come up with any plans or schedule to adhere. So, this is where I decided to make a schedule that I would follow and make the maximum utilization of the precious time.

A wise man once said;

Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” – Abraham Lincoln

I bet everyone has heard this famous quote from Abraham Lincoln. in which he means that if you have a task to do you should first learn to focus, sharpen your thoughts, clear up your mind, have a vision where you want to go?. Once are done with that then start working on it because only having a plan and taking no action against it will lead you to a booby trap. Planning things is not the problem, it’s spending too much time on creating the perfect plan is the problem.

When you dedicate your time to the right objectives/work, not only do you produce, but you produce results with more value and efficiency. Successful people value time more than money if you look at today's millionaires or billionaires you'll come to know why they are at that stage in life where only few can reach.

For example, "Tim Cook" (Apple CEO) once said that he wakes up every day at 4am, spends some time at the gym, reading emails, a visit to Starbucks and later heads to work.

I'm not trying to tell you that you should wake up at 4am everyday, all I'm saying is try waking up 1-2 hours early than what you normally do. This will help you in creating more time. An average adult needs at least 6 hours a day sleep, which means you have 18 hours on your plate. You need to utilize those 18 hours. The world in which we live today, everyone is fighting a battle with time. In the practical world, there's nothing as what we call 'perfect'. But that doesn't meant you should stop trying.

Tips & Tricks

Far from what I've learned through my schedule is to give priority to your crucial tasks. So, I'll share a few tips and tricks here.

Priority

A simple meaning of "priority" is to give importance to a particular task/object than others. This is the most important factor with regards to 'Time management'. Mainly everything in your life depends on your priorities. So to achieve this write down your task on paper and rank them based on priority. As you complete your tasks mark them correct. Complete one task, take 5 min break and then continue. stay focused to complete the task. At the end of the day review it, you will be satisfied with your day.

Do not Procrastinate

Procrastination could be one of the prime reasons that you don’t make it through the decided tasks all through out the day. You may be easily attracted to the time wasters such as the television shows or playing games on the internet, surfing on Facebook, Instagram and a lot of other social websites. To be honest social life is not easy to maintain unless you're a Hollywood or Bollywood star. Wasting time on the internet all day long is not going to get you anywhere. You are not learning anything. By the end of the day, you'll only be sad, depressed or may be thinking of tomorrow which you'll repeat every single day.

Identifying loopholes

The biggest problem that stands between you and deadlines is the constant interruptions. The flood of emails, social media notifications, pings, small help to team members and what not. You should avoid these things when you're working on a task, it may be difficult at first but as you keep on doing these eventually you'll develop a habit which will block all these things to happen in future.

Multi-tasking

Avoid this habit as early as possible, some may say that multi-tasking is the epitome. I do not agree with this at all, I believe in focusing one work at a time, this enhances my work capacity & give more outcome to it. Now I'm not saying that multi-tasking is bad but you need to understand when & where to multi-task.

Make a list

This is the best thing which I've ever done in my life, is to write & make a list of all things to do on daily basis, if you struggle with it start small & then gradually increase the number of activities to do.

For example, considering me - I'm a student and I also work in an office so at first it was really messed up for me to write & keep track of things. So, I started with daily 5 tasks to do which then increased to 15 task a day.

Well, that's all from my side for today. I hope you guys enjoyed it. As I mentioned earlier, I would like to have your valuable feedback so please do share it in the comments and let me know if you struggle with time management or if have struggled in the past and had overcome through it.

If you find difficulty in remembering the list, I think technology helps you remember things a lot of time, so you can you know use you're feeling phone or laptop where you can put alarms for it after a specific time it would snooze and let you'll know what to do!
Yes so is the problem with me of loopholes, it's difficult to find them and ensure that we don't waste our time.
