Chasing Your Dreams vs. Chasing Your Delusions

in #life7 years ago

Some thoughts I had on the difference between chasing your dreams and chasing your delusions. There's a right and a wrong way to go about achieving your goals and getting to where you want to be. Mindlessly pursuing what you're after without properly assessing how to get there isn't the way to do it!

You sound so frustrated in this. Lol. Good advice for anyone though.

it's a very frustrating thing! lol!

Well at least you were proactive in venting by putting this advice out there. You can't force folks to make the right decisions for themselves, but you can educate and inspire people to do better by example. Kudos!

Jesus Christ. This makes me feel a lot better at my own attempts to chase my dream/delusion of trying to make a living through music. I mean, over 100 grand in debt? Fuck...

Man, if I had that kind of money to throw around I definitely would've had a burgeoning music career here in Ireland by now. I would've gotten some singing lessons, a nice guitar, some half decent recording equipment, hell, with that kind of money I probably would've bought some studio time with a professional recording engineer, and I'd still have some cash left over to keep me fed and watered for a while too. Now that's a delusion.

Seriously though, how do you even get yourself into that much debt? Like, I know rappers are fairly flashy and ostentatious, but christ, make some bloody music before you start dropping fat stacks on chains and grills. Haha.

there are lots of rappers who have huge ego's and think theyre hot shit when theyre not... so they never learn to become better musicians.

just gotta learn to get better every day and you will make it eventually

Great video and Advice. This video got me thinking...
Why don't you review amateur/independent artists like once a month or every two months? Like a 10/15mn compilation of 4/5 underground artists you feel deserve the spotlight.
You have the following and that would help many new artists.
If you don't even want to fuck with really abyss-small artists, set a requirement of number of following for submissions or something.
Dope video any ways. I'm a producer and I'm taking every piece of advice I can take so thanks for being around giving your well founded/constructed opinion!
