Of course they're on a 'race' but on their respective races and not competing with each other. They battle every day in giving the most unselfish aide, surpassing what they had given and thinking that they can give more in the future. I think in general, it's a self-fulfillment after all. Finding the true meaning of existence while enjoying/sharing amazing graces from above.
