Dr. TLK _ My 2018 Diary_ Jan 4th, 2018

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Today was a quiet day. I didn't leave home and slept most of the day. Depression enhances itself somehow!

I managed to make some food for myself though! I focused on having more protein today and calculated the calories, cholesterol, carbohydrates, fibers, iron, protein, fat and saturated fat I am eating using an excel sheet

I have a database of the nutritional values of the food I usually consume which I collect as I go and I keep updating it regularly with addition of new food to my diet

Here are my meals for today

BreakfastNutritional Value: ~ 500 Cal

For breakfast, I had 2 eggs with chocolate cranberry bread and coffee latte. I originally intended to eat 2 pieces of bread, hence the picture, but I ended up eating only one and kept the other for another time. A victory for my waist and my wallet 😊

Here are the meal calculations:

LunchNutritional Value: ~ 0 Cal

I didn't have lunch. I slept instead!

DinnerNutritional Value: ~ 500 Cal

For dinner, I made a yummy Mediterranean Pizza.

Midnight snackNutritional Values: ~ 250 Cal

Since I had early dinner, I think I will be hungry later. So I am having some snack allowance (may have yogurt and some fruits)

Estimated Total Cal Intake: ~ 1250 (My meals today were rich in protein but also fat)

Estimated Total Cal Burned: ~ 1450 (based on Fitbit)

Estimated Total Spending: ~ 15$

Final Notes:

  • I noticed that food with high protein content also has high fat contents (like eggs, cheese and meat)
  • I am feeling less depressed now but I still want to make an effort to go out and stop this cycle of low mood from increasing

...Till Next Episode!

Hi dear @thecleangame
Thank you for visiting, commenting and for your kind support.

Also, Thank you very much for sharing these info. I didn't think of that at all. It is such a great idea. I will read about it and try to do my own "experiment" on how much better I will feel when I incorporate the suggested food to my diet ;D

Hope to see you more and keep you posted :D

I am impressed by the spreadsheet you made.
I was about to ask how you calculate your calories, but now i see.

Mind you, I don't know how much I take and I was scared to check my weight after the holidays. But I took the scales and oh no, that could not be true. :-( I put more kilos on top of what I was supposed to reduce.

That is me - always hungry. 😄

And that is what I have do. 😀

Have fun and smile more 😀

Hahaha! I love your cartoons and they certainly make me smile :D

The scale is a scary foe indeed, especially after the holiday :P

mmmmmmmm >_< you made me hungry, I just had lunch XD

Hahaha! You didn't enough maybe :P

Maybe you can try a combination of goji berries and raw cocoa - it is a mood enhancer. But you may imagine that as a little bear (koala) in a wrong climate setting you might just feel like adjusting a bit and sleeping it all over (the winter and the rest), or you may try exactly the opposite and try to adjust and enjoy the winter and go cross country skiing in the nature.

The goji berries and cocoa is a great advice! I may try it.

I had rough time at the end of last year with a breakup and then getting sick then feeling lonely in the new year. I tried to ignore the feelings but they had to be expressed. So, depression turned on on high until I decided to cry my heart out :P

But thanks for the suggestion and advice my dear. It warms my heart to know you and others care even if you don't know me for real.

I tried downhill skiing actually just lately and had an accident. LOL! It was my first time ever to ski, but I hope it won't be my last :D

Hugs with lots of love <3<3

Downhill skiing need real fitness, otherwise you can easily twist your ankle, break a leg, and so on. Cross-country skiing is far more easy and fun, besides you excercise nearly just every muscle ther is on your body and you warm it up (so you are not supposed to put on to much clothing), and you do it more through the nature landscape and don't need to freeze on the lift. Trust me, I know both very good. I'd always prefer cross-country to classical skiing, besides you can do it in a park, too.

I hope your low mood is only seasonal depression and there is nothing truly troubling you Dr. TLK. I know I have a hard time getting out of bed and being active when it's cold and grey outside.

It is very sweet of you to care my dear @gregory-f . It truly warms my heart and makes me feel much better.

I had a turbulent relationship for the past 2 years which finally ended with breakup last December. I tried to use logic (That it was not working from the start and its better for me that it ended) to prevent myself from expressing hurt. But the emotions were too strong and there were many of them (negative mainly). Adding to that the seasonal effect. The jumble mumble of emotions appeared as depression until I got them out of my system and allowed myself to feel hurt, cry and give up on a relationship that wouldn't work no matter how hard I try to make it work.

To give up trying has always been a problem with me. Something I should learn. Hopefully this year!

Sorry for the unhappy details, but thanks for asking about me and for your sweet support :D

Hugs with lots of love <3<3

I haven't gotten out much because of the cold arctic weather around the Great Lakes. As long as i have some sunlight coming through the windows and i'm moving a bit (perhaps minimal exercise) then i'm feeling pretty good.
But keep up the good work!

I am glad you are feeling good with some sunlight and minimal exercise.

I am feeling better now as well. Thank you for your kind support :D
