Have you ever heard that older people are the most vulnerable to attacks and dog bites? Is this statement true?
Of course, no, as 60 percent of dog-fed people are children, while the elderly are second, and some professions, such as postman and meter reader, are third.
Children often do not know how to behave near dogs. Their behaviors often frighten them and drive them to aggressive behavior, while the weakness of the elderly and their slow movement compared with adults is the most important cause of their violent bites.
Mailers are frequently attacked for dogs because their work involves frequent access to the property of others and their homes. Dogs often consider these houses and their surroundings their own area and defend them.
Dogs feed about 4.7 million Americans a year, about 800,000 of whom have symptoms of the disease. 386,000 of the injured need emergency room entry, and 12 of them die.
Here are some expert tips on avoiding dog attacks:
Do not look at dogs directly.
Do not run away from dogs or run in front of them, it makes them hostile, and you have the desire to follow you.
Do not deal with a dog that you do not know even gently, especially if the dog is behind a fence, tied inside a garden, or sitting next to a parked car.
If you are approached by an unfamiliar dog, stand still. Most of the time, your dog will only have a nose and then move on.
And harass a dog during sleep or eating, and always moved away from a mother around her puppies.
If you feel threatened by a dog, do not breathe, but be quiet, and ask the dog to go away in a peremptory manner. Always stand firm until the dog leaves in front of you, or take slow steps back.
If you are attacked by a dog, give it something, such as a jacket or the like. If you fall to the ground, try to pack yourself into a ball, sit still, and try to cover your head with your hands.
Go immediately to your doctor if:
If the bite is in your hand, your foot, or your head, or if the bite is deep and wide.
If you have a disease, it may weaken your ability to fight infection.
If signs of infection appear or bleeding continues after 15 minutes of continuous pressure applied to the wound.
If signs of bone fractures or nerve damage appear.
If you have been taking tetanus for 5 years or more.
As for those who do not need the care of a doctor, you should clean the wound with soap and water, squeeze it with a clean towel until it stops bleeding, then cover it with sterile dressing, and always keep the place of the infection above the heart level to slow the swelling, The possibility of infection, it is also recommended to put an ointment of antibiotics twice daily until healed.
The most important concerns that may come to mind after dog infestation are rabies, an uncommon disease in the United States. If your dog looks healthy, he is probably not rabid. However, you should take some precautions if you are exposed to rabies. A dog bite.
If you are a dog and some of you, make sure to register the vaccine, and even if the vaccine, it is necessary to put the dog in quarantine for 10 days to make sure that the biting incident is not caused by symptoms of rabies, and if it turns out that the dog suffers from cough, You will need a combination of injections and vaccines for rabies.
Finally, if you find an animal that is wrong, contact your animal welfare agency or your local health department. They will also take the necessary tests to ensure that you do not have rabies. If the authorities can not find your animal, the doctor will often advise you to take the vaccines.
Good advice ... also many dogs will back down if you say "Go Home!" in a forceful tone. Never run away. If you walk your dogs it is also wise to carry a golf club and or pepper spray for an encounter with a loose aggressive dog. roaming the neighborhood.

Some of them are truly great.
Having grown up in an area with many dangerous dogs, I have to say this is poor advice. If you are confronted by an aggressive dog, first speak in a loud assertive tone and tell it lie down, or sit. 'Go home' is not something many people teach their dog. Sit is usually the first thing.
Do not forget us humans are basically very clever monkeys. You can climb things that dogs cannot. Go up on a car, fence, or other vertical object which a 4 legged animal can not scale.
If there is no other option, same as when attacked by a person, the best defense is offense. I do not endorse hurting animals. But if a large dog is trying to bite you, you are better off kicking it once in the ribs, than being bitten and possibly catching a nasty infection. If this is the course of action you must take. Simply commit to it and kick the animal one. Most dogs only ever need to be kicked once and they will depart. Don't try to punish or injure the dog further. If the animal thinks that they are in danger of being killed they will try to do same to you.
This of course risks being bitten in the leg, but that is likely where you would be bitten in the first place if you did nothing.
good
