in #life7 years ago (edited)

Hi Steemit Friends,

I had the opportunity to read a book about self-confident and i stumbled upon something quite interesting. I want to share to you today about some wrong understanding people have about self-confidence.I find this helpful for myself and i hope this can be a little useful to my fellow steemians. :)

When You Have Self Confidence You Can Master Anything

Confidence Is crucial for success but so is competence!.

  • Confidence Without Competence = Delusion

  • Competence Without Confidence = Unfulfilled Potential

Confidence is extremely important but it's not the only key to achieve success. You need to develop your skills and gain experience that will cement your success.

Some People Are Born With Confident

There are some certain of truth to this like some children are born more extrovert while others are more introvert but it doesn't mean they have more confidence.

  • Extrovert people can be more socially confident and comfortable around people but it's also quite easy to have their confidence crushed by others.

  • An Introvert person might be less comfortable being around people but doesn't mean that with the right encouragement, opportunity and environment, the wont grow or show confidence.

There can be No Room For Self-Doubt

It is Healthy and Helpful to Have a small level of Self-Doubt.

It can Motivates you to grow and improves to be better. Having self-doubts makes us human.

when you someone who appears to be all putted together and super confident, remember beneath that they might not show you that in times they feel inadequate and insecure.

Alcohol Gives You Confidence

When you use alcohol as your only source of confidence, you over estimate your own abilities and underestimate the negative consequences of your actions. It can bring but also the pain.

Building self confident is so important but also having a right understanding ,looking at it and walk towards it the right way.....

So besides alcohol and not expecting too much on myself, any other suggestion to train or improve my self confidence?

Basically, the goal is to develop a deep understanding of yourself (how does a human body and mind work + what are some specificities for yourself) and your surroundings. When you understand these two processes you will apply them easier and boost your confidence. I've been working on this kind of stuff for 10 years now, and I can only tell you it can most definitely be done. You can do this by reading lots of books, acquiring a skill (for me white-water rafting, fitness, ngos, online marketing) and spirituality. Hope that helps.

I always had self-conf but three years ago I started to have some episodes of Panic and I have been in
Psychiatrists and they just made me more anxious about everything!! Now I don't know if
If they (Psy) made me lose my confidence or so. I think I have to work on my spirituality , I believe everything is in our own minds but when the panic comes I feel myself without power to fight against cause it's not easy !!

I think we all go through a face of panic once a while in life. It's okie to not be okie all the time. Just remember to get back up and stand tall.. !!

yup, tks for the kind words :-)

@raphavongal, maybe a time off from the thing you are working on, a change of environment or some recovery trip could help. All the best! You can always share your journey and fight here too. I am sure that you are not alone.

Great tips, will try to implement one by one :) Thanks @mookie!

Thank you for your knowledgeable comment !! Means a lot !!! :)

@mookie gave a great answer.

I've found it mostly involves focusing inward on developing yourself in all the areas you feel you are lacking.

As you do this, confidence grows naturally. My 2 centavos... :)

I've written a post on the late, great Chuck Berry's music. It's pretty musical. :)

I like the lines

"Confidence Without Competence = Delusion
Competence Without Confidence = Unfulfilled Potential"

The universe has lost a lot because of both those scenarios. And the worst part is that People in Category 1 trample people in category 2. Which will lead to more power concentrating with people in Category 1. So this is more like a vicious cycle which needs to be broken form the both the sides(two diagonally opposite points) of the circle.

good news, thank you, upvoted pleez .

Read "Daring Greatly" by Brianne Brown. It's fantastic.

I'll take a look at it thank you for the recommendation :)

Modern day pop culture teaches us how to be confident, without competence... :D look at the social media influencers

That is more life Fame not confidence...... But i get what you are trying to say. Social media has both sides to it for sure.

There are a lot of myths to self confidence but the essential truth is that it is a fundamental to your well being, no matter how you chose to factor it there is no getting away from the fact that self confidence is crucial to being able to being a well rounded well adjusted balanced human being.

You are absolutely right ! Thank you for your comment

Which book is that? Good writing though. Keep sharing.

Confidence Without Competence = Delusion

Competence Without Confidence = Unfulfilled Potential

You're totally right !!!

Thanks for sharing, very interisting @suerisue

so cool posting on steemit
thank you

voice on your shoulder book by rich dad kiyosakis friend cant remember his name lol very good

Thanks @suerisue! I believe that there are some parts of us that are both, somehow, extrovert and introvert. I find it difficult sometimes to get enough confidence facing new audience and that self doubt is creeping up - it seems like something that I cannot escape from. However, preparation always help and I just hope we have enough time to prepare to get to where we want to be. Thank you for your post! It's very motivating! 😊

Yes, i am totally both extrovert and introvert too !!! Thank you for your comment

I see my self as a person with a pretty good developed confidence.

I extremely disagree with the following statement:

''There can be No Room For Self-Doubt''

I would say: ''There MUST be room for Self-Doubt.'' Self-Doubt is very healthy and it could give you better perspective on what you can achieve and what not.
People with no Self-Doubt will try to climb ladders while its almost certain that they will fall-off. I see so many friends of mine doing this.

Examples:

Starting a carrier with to less experience.
Buying a home that you arent able to afford.
Trying to catch the perfect relation.

Guess what? All a product of beeing overconfident and it almost always result in unhappiness and yes.. more self-doubt.

It's true. Confidence is really important for achieving your goals. Life is hard whem you have no confidence. And drinking alcohol to improve your confidence is only a short term solution witg negative side effects.

As a man, seeing a woman with confidence is a very attractive thing.
On the other hand, seeing a woman with no self confidence has the opposite effect. It's funny in life that the most competent people sometimes lack confidence whereas very incompetent people have way too much confidence. There needs to be more balance haha

Sometimes self confidence often link on physical appearance. Those people who blessed with beautiful face, perfect body, and smooth skin have grant with self confidence. In our society where we live, these people is more attractive, they are famous, and easy to socialized with other. While on the other hand, these people being unknown, not being notice, and people stay away from them. Therefore, from the day the baby born, you can predict his/her fate. The world is so cruel and unfair to those who doesn't posses a good physical appearance, while with those who born with almost perfect apperance have all eyes on them. It so sad to think about but it is the reality of life.

Damn, that's cruelly true somehow.

That's the reality my friend @kimzwarch.

Agreed, @cloudspyder. To be appealing is a skillset as well.

But nobody is perfect and we all feel that we have something, if you stick to physical appearances too much, even the prettiest person can find something they dont life about themselves. I feel that it's the energy you bring out to others that shines.

Know ourselves is a crutial step for everything, thanks for sharing this great post.

Great post! I agree with everything! It doesn't matter how confident you seem to other people, there's always a time or situation when a person feels more confident than the other :)

Confidence is the key of success and can master of Human being as the potential ....

@riaz

Great post;)

I just cant but endorse what you saif. Self confidence is the key to living a productive life. If you dont believe in yourself who else who believe in you. The key to success is you accepting that you will be successful no matter what and before you can be successful,u must first believe in yourself .....

Good one @suerisue! Just don't drink too much alcohol so it won't make you much over-confidence. lol

We are all born confident, it is only when we begin to perceive the world around us that we start to compare ourselves to others and end up doubting our abilities.

From which I have learned from many experiences, that self-confidence is built by taking actions. So, if you think you can not do something and then you try and accomplish it, this will indeed boost your self-confidence. By this principle I live.

*Confidence Without Competence = Delusion

Competence Without Confidence = Unfulfilled Potential*

Nicely put. Good post, @suerisue! Upvoted.

Great article! We have to knew that the confidence without the experience it's nothing, We need to balance between this two elements to can be successful in the life.

Nice post. Well said. I think a lot of people focus too much on gaining confidence and not enough focus on competence.

Amazing motivation! We have trust ourselve, right?

Beautifully explained @suerisue. I love it being short and straight to the point. You sure have my vote

buen contenido, la confianza en uno mismo nace desde que tu entiendes que todo se resuelve y puede hacerlo solo con creerlo, pensarlo todo los dias, buen post

very simple: build confidence by doing the very things your uncomfortable doing, overtime you will be comfortable and that will translate to being more confident

Nice post! I'm building my self-confidence as well now and I think everyone should. To be honest just by making myself better in certain area, better than somebody and trying to improve my life I can already see that I'm much confident of my actions.

"When You Have Self Confidence You Can Master Anything"

IMO not exclusicly a myth because self confidence will allow for a much more efficient learn process because:

  • You may face new challenges less fearful.
  • You may give yourself more positive feedback on your results.

Great post! I'm a kind of an introvert person and truly being this personality have many disadvantages. My knowledge and skills are wasted because I'm not confident to show it off.
