Sorry Steemit family, I haven't posted in quiet some time. Its a long story for another post.
I am in the process of transforming my warehouse into a Heavy European Martial Arts (HEMA) and Live Action Role Play studio. I hosted, at my soon-to-be reformed warehouse, a group of HEMA students last week. They are part of the Castle Tintangel HEMA school in Tokyo.
This is a serious sport, and not like LARP fighting. These students wear real metal armour and strike each other as quickly as they can and with as much force as possible.
There are two styles of fighting; points or first to fall (give up). The point system is based on hits to areas of the body, and it can be any part of the body (hence the need for armour). The first-to-fall system is when you are fighting and try to bring down your opponent, either with hits, or be throwing down. This system is much more physical, and injuries are likely to happen. However, this way is also the most 'realistic' way of fighting. Fighters respect each other and do not intent to "damage" you, but they will do what it takes to get you to the ground.
In my youth, this first to fall style is rather my thing. However, as I am now older, and my muscles don't bounce back like they used to, point system is better for me.
Once the "studio" is complete, I will be posting photos.
Oh, and if you remember, I am also a "real" Knight. I'm not just playing the part. :)
The studio is looking better and better! Have you invested in some cameras to take footage of your events? GoPro?
Are you a Knight of Ni?
Haha, I haven't made an investment in cameras, but that is a good idea.
