We all know that losing weight is not always as easy as we thought. To lose those extra pounds, you will need to consume much fewer calories than the amount you burn on a daily basis. However, even the slightest idea of going low on food is often times a catalyst to a state of constant hunger. I’m sure if you have ever got to skip a meal before, you are sure to be familiar with that gnawing sensation. In the bid to avoid this, as well as many other pitfalls that come with losing weight, alternatives are sourced for help including turning to numerous fad diets and other natural ways to lose weight.

However, cranberries have been found recently to not only have some health benefits, such as helping to prevent urinary tract infections, help alleviates cases of ulcers, and also serve as a good source of antioxidants, cranberries have also been found to be an excellent, very simple alternative to help you lose weight in a natural and healthy way.
About Cranberries
Even though cranberries seem to be a seasonal fruit, they also can be available all year round in juice and frozen forms. They are mostly found in the part of the world where it seems cooler. Parts of the United States such as New England, Washington, Oregon and some other states are places where cranberries can be found. It is referred to as Moss berries in Canada and was first commercially used by Native Americans for purposes such as for food, dye, and for medicinal purposes.
How Do Cranberries Help With Weight Loss?
One major way Cranberries help with weight loss is by helping you maintain a healthy calorie count. Taking a glass of cranberry juice rather than your normal orange juice will help save a significant number of calories. Cranberry juice is sweeter, and it’s not as acidic as citrus juices, so it goes down smoothly. If you have been looking for a great afternoon snack, cranberry juice is a perfect choice for you. It can also be taken first thing in the morning – all in the bid to help you lose weight naturally.
Below are a few things you should also know about this subject:
Take Cranberry Juice Before Meals
Having breakfast actually helps rev up your body’s metabolism; therefore, adding a glass of cranberry juice to your breakfast will help you consume overall fewer calories. Drinking the juice first will make you feel fuller.
This can also be replicated for lunch. Take a glass of cranberry with half a glass of water before the meal, and you will be guaranteed of cutting even more calories.
It Keeps Your Body Hydrated
When it comes to losing weight, one important factor to consider is keeping your body hydrated. It helps you maintain fat metabolism, and for you to perfectly achieve this, you may need up to 64 ounces of water a day. However, if you don’t like the taste of water so much, a great way to meet those minimum hydration standards is to take cranberry juice. It is not calorie dense, so it is a great way to get your fluid.
If exercise is part of your weight loss program, then you will definitely need to keep your body hydrated during workouts as much as possible and cranberry juice is a perfect and tasty alternative way to keep you fit.
Cranberry Juice for Dessert
Looking for a tasty dessert while you also shed some pounds? Cranberry juice rightly fits into that shoe. Instead of your normal dessert tonight, why not try a big glass of cranberry juice instead. Believe me; the touch of sweetness void of sugar can cause a great satisfaction within your tooth with a lot fewer calories compared to any dessert food.
Go the Healthy Way of Cutting Down
Cranberry juice does not only keep you hydrated or satisfy your sweet tooth but does much more than that. The journal of nutrition stated in 2007 that cranberries contain phytochemicals, a compound which acts as antioxidants and also helps in the fight against a variety of cancers. Therefore, drinking your cranberry juice daily may have the same effect as eating an apple daily; you can surely keep the doctor away by that!
On a final note, if you are looking to shed some pounds in a natural and healthy way, you can consider adding cranberries to your meals; it makes you feel fuller, cut down calories, and watch the pounds drop away naturally!

@steemhealthcare, thanks for this info, it's important to know such things.
However, here's a serious question: as someone who only drinks water and non-sugared coffee, would adding cranberry juice to my daily nutrition help me lose weight, or would it just increase my calorie intake (because now I'll drink that instead of water), causing me to gain more weight?
I understand why it's good to replace orange juice etc. with cranberry juice, the question is, really, if it's an overall recommendation even for those who don't need the sweet drinks, and if so - what's the reasoning behind it?
Thanks :-)
