Would You Sleep in a Coffin?

So apparently there is a company manufacturing earthquake-proof beds that will automatically close up if and when it detects a certain amount of seismic activity. To satisfy discerning styles and tastes, the bed comes in different models, shapes, sizes, colors and so forth. Apparently, they have an earthquake bed for every and any taste or lifestyle.

But to me, it's still just a coffin bed .

Watch video HERE

If I have to live in a housing structure that is going to fall to pieces, such as is shown in their promotional video, then I think I'd rather spend my money on finding a new place to live. Who wants to stay in a place that may come down around then so utterly and completely, should there be a stiff wind?

But, that's just me. The video doesn't share a price, which is always a sign that it is extremely expensive. What's the old saying? If you have to ask how expensive something is, you can't afford it. Well, if that's the case with this device, that's something I can live with. Literally

Sort:

You're sound asleep in your comfy coffin when a tremor hits. The "bed" snaps closed (hopefully, you don't have a limb or two dangling over the edge), and your enclosure is immediately buried by the debris from your collapsing residence.
Nice.
The thought is almost enough to give me a claustrophobic panic attack. Just let Mother Nature bury me, as the Universe intended.

Right? It's like being kept alive through extraordinary measures. If the only thing keeping me here is a tube down my throat, another tube coming out the other end and something pushing air into my body, then I'm not too interested. In my opinion, I'm already dead in that case... it's just my body hasn't got the memo yet.

Too scary for me : /

Me too. Now, if they could make like an ejector bed, or something with rockets that would shoot me out of the window to safety, then that might be different. Hmmmm… an ejector bed...

Just reading the title got me claustrophobic :P
I mean... it's an interesting concept but I have to agree with you:

If I have to live in a housing structure that is going to fall to pieces, such as is shown in their promotional video, then I think I'd rather spend my money on finding a new place to live.

It's kinda silly!

Agreed. I'll give them an "A" for effort and creativity, but um... I won't be a paying customer.
