The Ray Kroc quote reminded me of the old story of how someone who saw his business as making wagons and carriages to be drawn by horses wouldn't have survived the transition to the automobile, whereas another buggy-maker who saw his business as providing transportation would transition.
When the foundation (the old economy) is collapsing under people, they leap. It's more a leap of desperation than a leap of faith, but all the same, they often find they can fly. I've had a lot of people tell me that losing a job was the best thing that ever happened to them.
