Yes, distress is a poison that fills our bodies and consumes everything we do. It is like anxiety or worrying. It only causes us to suffer twice about something rather than potentially only once. If we worry about something that is about to happen then we are suffering before it is happening. Then, if it is bad we suffer again when it happens. However, there is always a chance that it turns out alright. In that case, we put ourselves through suffering beforehand for no reason.

Bottom Line: don't worry, be anxious, or distressed about anything.
