RE: LIVING IN A TRAILER

in #life6 years ago

Good to see! We lived in a Mobile when we were first married, and raised two kids there! We moved into a brick home in the Burbs which we now own.

We decided to move to the country, with a few restrictions. We decided that we would have zero bills, so we had to find property that we could afford to pay cash for. This does limit things, but I was able to find a place, and was surprised to see that it has a 16 x 72 Mobile on it already. I am working on the Mobile, to allow wheelchair access, and to run totally on Solar power. I am also repairing some internal damage, but it will make a comfortable home. We will sell this house, and let someone else pay the extortion in taxes every year on this house! Our taxes on the land will be under $100 a year. Running off of solar, which is ALL already here, except the battery (I have a third of that collected now), will give us good options, and no utility bills.

We are a little strange, We are currently on the grid, but planning to fire those vampires. I also plan to run heat and air from my solar power source. Adding significant insulation in the repairs / rebuild, with new windows will help me reach this goal.

Congratulations on a very nice, PAID FOR Home, Well done Sir! :)

LOL - I know that feeling! We used to pay over $1500 each year for a 1/4 acre lot in the city with a home on it. Last year, our taxes were $34 for our land, but that's just because we didn't actually live on it. This year, I'm suspecting that the $350 homesteading credit will offset anything that we would have owed.

Same here, we pay $1500 here, after Homestead Exemption kicks in!

I plan on setting two, high, 40 foot, containers exactly 60 foot apart, and roofing between for my shop building.

That Mobile looks solid, and we raised our Little Peppers in one just like it! No bills is great, Party on dude, LOL! :D
