I caught that Zuckerberg quote when I watched the hearing, but no one seems to have picked up on it! At least, no mainstream news agency. It really would be a shame for them to start policing what we say. Even if they're just targeting "hate speech," that is still censorship. We should let hate speech talk itself out. Hate speech will never stand up to reason and will never win out over the majority of the population.

Would FB censor based on political dictation, religious belief, etc etc.
I like steemit's approach where you can simply mute the user. This gives me the ability to "censor" anyone I want. And ... if I feel like it, I can remove that censor.
Personally, I think the whole "trial" is the first attempt for the US government to try to get access to the data that FB holds. Otherwise, they would be going after Cambridge Analytica instead.
That's a pretty good point. Big data is one of the most powerful developments of our age and congress doesn't understand it well. There must be some serious worry.
There is a big difference between racism and to speak out your mind!
But while there is a big difference, it still is a tin line!
I'm trying to teach my kids to treat all people, regardless of skin color, religion, status and so on, the same. It that is how they would be treated!
The problem with AI and facebook is that they will define rasism of hatred. Since when do they have the power to do this.
Just like they are banning mother who are breastfeeding their child!
It is easy trying to be the moral knight, when at the back of people you are selling their identities.
But back to the main topic!
It is hard to define those things. Some things could be considered hate speech, while others (also smart people, not the extreme from left or right) consider it okay!
On a open blockchain the same problems will/could arise. We could use the power to flag a post, but others could upvote it. Then it would be up to the users if it is okay or not!

I think the "pug salute" is really funny but should not have said "Gas the Jews" even typing that sends shivers down my spine. Also Hitler did not speak English. So why on earth was it even uttered in the first place just blows mind.
True it is always good to have some good comedy but one must not be INSENSITIVE.
MORE IMPORTANTLY WHAT BAFFLES ME IS THAT IF THE DOG WAS IN INDIA OR JAPAN (ANYWHERE BUDDHISM IS THE MAIN RELIGION) THE GIRLFRIEND TOO WILL BE "IN BIG TROUBLE" FOR NAMING THE DOG "BUDDHA". wonder why no one caught up on that.
Even though it is common practice in the West to name their pets BUDDHA and we all overlook it, this too is in my opinion "being insensitive" to a lesser degree.
