Society Sucks Because Most of Us Suck

in #life8 years ago (edited)

This is gonna be one of those intoxicated posts that I've become known for. Truthful, brutal, and no holds barred.

I've explained how I hate the collective pretentious behavior found in the mainstream media and social networking sites, and I've explained how I loathe the way they choose what people see and what they don't.

I know, I know, that's a lot of negativity already, but it's true! I feel like I'm going crazy watching my friends and family completely absorb the bullshit they're eating up on their computer screens, and on television.

While I was relaxing with my mother today watching the news, like all old people do, a segment about Australia's Great Barrier Reef came on headlining that it may be declared an endangered UNESCO world heritage site. My mother then said, "Bullshit. They said it's fine."

I almost flipped, but I've learned since learning, that most people don't know shit! (Sorry mum, but it's true)

I had to remind her that, Australia's Great Barrier Reef has been dying for the past ten decades due to oil dredging which causes coral bleaching and that there's enough public evidence that proves it so. You can drown in the evidence easier than swimming against the currents on the reef.

It's like this every time I watch the news with someone. It's like this every time an important event happens. People don't have enough care to know, and because they don't know already, they can't piece two & two together.

I feel like I'm living in a world filled with sentient robots who've been programmed to eat, fuck, sleep, and distract the rest of us from what matters.

Hell, people don't even know how to forage anymore. Put your hands up if you're reading this and you feel you could easily survive the wilderness for more than 24 hours? Of course I can't see your hands, but you get the point.

We've become so out of touch, yet on social media we're apparently "in touch" with one and other.

To me, that means that there's a bunch of idiots with large followings from which people are gaining their information, just like the mainstream news, and they're teaching people nothing apart from how to prank their grandmothers...

We've been raised by people who don't know shit about the current state our world is in because they spent their youth eating delicacies, enjoying thriving pop culture, and playing the world's first Ataris (assuming your parents weren't protesting the Vietnam war, apartheid in Africa, or are in bed with the master class).

It's funny too, in 1994 the UN declared a decade long "educational reform" to instill human rights into every school. I'm not sure about you, but I didn't learn about half this shit in my public schools.

I learned about Hitler, Hiroshima, and every technological advance since then in social studies, disconcerting ourselves to the fact that we know bugger all.

Maybe it was because I was a delinquent in high school, acting the class clown, but I did tend to look at class material to instill fun facts that kept me on point.

What I realized quickly in school was that; mathematics is thorough, along with science & technology studies; Religious & historical studies are filled with half truths; and Social studies are so unbelievably biased that it wasn't worth listening too at all.

Sure, we can learn more about whatever subject we want, but that means you have to go looking for info.

Most people today don't give a shit about learning. It's not that they're all ignorant, it's that they're too concerned with their comfort in life, how cool they look, and that their nine-to-five jobs. Fuck that.

I've been around the block and back when it comes to work. I work like a dog, I get shit done, and I enjoy working. What I don't like is the hours. Wake up, get ready, go to work, come home, eat, shower, go to sleep, repeat. In a world where robots can perform most manual tasks, and where currencies can be decentralized, that shit becomes a sad joke.

We do all that so we can live comfortably and look good whilst doing so. Some people don't give a shit and just go about their business, but if you want higher social status then you better have some fast cars and bands of money or you're just not going to get into the cooler kids events...

These things seem silly when I put it that way, and that's because they are.

I wish my parents had instilled in me how important knowledge is, how to find it, and where to start looking. Instead they were too busy working to be able to indulge in family activities. I'm sure I'm not the only person from my generation who feels the same.

Our lives have become so absorbed with the expectation to act according to what the rest of the population is doing, because if we don't, we become an outcast. Most people have little ambition other than to watch the latest episode of their favorite TV show, then later self indulge in their own kind of perverted fantasy.

I'm not trying to say that you shouldn't live comfortably. The point I'm making is that we're living pretentiously. We're pretending to be something we're not.

Human beings are animals, just like any other life form on this planet that eats, sleeps, and poops. We're just as destructive as any other force of nature, if not more. We've vastly advanced our civilization in the last 70 years, technologically but not socially. We've learned slowly how to make life easier but have also slowly drifted apart as a collective consciousness.

People have little rationality, no reasoning, and believe they know everything. They read a book on self help and now think they have life figured out. I've spent the better half of my life seeking trying to understand the world a bit better, and the number one lesson I've taught myself is that I don't know shit!

Meanwhile, those who still don't care about why they exist or where they exist, keep yolo'ing through life like nothing matters at all.

People do whatever the fuck they want without fear of consequence because they can and don't realize the chain effect they set in motion when they do so. It's like we came this far just to destroy ourselves, and that's exactly what's happening now.

We're polluting the air that we breathe, we're destroying the ecosystem that we live off, and we're corrupting ourselves inside and out because it's comfortable to do so. Once it's uncomfortable to live and people then start to care, it'll be too late to fix anything.

When you try to tell people these things, even in the most polite manner, they interject with some nonsense about how corporate capitalist provides goods for humanity and betters the economy, or how there's too many people on the planet and no longer enough resources to support us all, or how "all lives matter" except for those you don't agree with...

There's always some fallacy that stops us from discussing real issues and that always hinders progress.

The truth is, our leaders are lying to us - that's more than fucking apparent with the state of how the world is - our education is run by federal governments that are lobbied by conglomerates, controlling the outcome of humanity as if it were a game of monopoly, while federal banks give the same conglomerates tax cuts and hand outs.

Conspiracy theorists talk about mind control techniques... The only mind control technique that I see, is this unbelievable dumbing down of society.

Not all hope is lost. There has been a paradigm shift in the last decade, and believe it or not it's being lead by us entitled millennials. We've been taught by the old activists that have always been there to blockade totalitarian dictation.

I will admit, alot of my generation is drug fucked, and I know this because I was too. A bunch of pill popping rave addicts. Still, that's no reason for anyone of us not to change. You can still do drugs and know what the fucks going on.

Old, young, black, white, or even alien, we've all got a part to play when it comes to shifting our thought processes into a more progressive light in order to save ourselves and our habitats.

It's time to forget these divide & conquer tactics that have ruled our hearts for far too long.

We've argued over petty nonsense, such as race & land rights, when the real issue is what we're doing to progress as a colony. Who are we as a species. Are we prepared to become a species that not only governs ourselves but can help other intelligent species to do the same, or will we continue to be a destructive species that consumes more than our fill and ignores the waste we leave behind.

The choice is all of ours.

It seems that the more ignorant people are, the more arrogant they are.

We are surrounded by clueless idiots who couldn't find the nearest Walmart if the GPS system went down...

That's why I live the way I do and raise my children the way that I do.

Word brother. Keep on keepin' it real!

Society is no more or less dumb, no more or less informed than it was 50 years ago. This isn't a new trend. Most people are self-absorbed and care little for anything that isn't relevant to their immediate concerns. This is human nature and it's a good thing, not a bad one.

Ultimately, there are rulers that approximately control what the un-curious (the vast majority of people) see, and by extension, what they think. This position is really open to anyone should they avail themselves of the right circumstances.

This is the game the world is playing. You can rage against the rules or you can play by them.

I 100% agree man. It's not that I think the rules are wrong, just that no one understands them enough to play correctly and are playing like "noobs". I remember how self-absorbed I used to be, how little I actually knew, and yet then I thought I was a boss. I wasn't shit. I've since learned how the game works and chosen to find purpose through a personal "quest".

Thank you for your comment sir sneak, your wisdom is appreciated :)

Speaking more truth, brother. As the "keystone species" that humans are, it is paramount that we understand that responsibility and act on it. Immediately would be great, but 20 years ago would have been better. So much confusion out there. Keep on doing your thing to illuminate the truth.

All we can do from the grassroots, is speak truth. Bringing hope for the youth, and a scope on abuse.

That was quite the rant @senseiteekay BRAVO
I've often said that history is created by the winners. It's biased and often records of the conquered were destroyed.

I agree that there is a deliberate dumbing down of society. For the most part people suck because they're lemmings. They are too lazy to think for themselves so they let others think for them.

Amen! I couldn't agree more with this comment, especially the last part.

The fact that some of us get it gives me hope for the future.

Jai Prabhu! Why do we exist and where do we exist? I like how you asked these questions. You have hit the nail on the head. This is animal society. Eating sleeping, mating and defending. Nothing more than "polished animalism" as Srila Prabhupada would say. The aim and constant dedication of resources in society to these endeavors is in fact a waste of time as you point out. Above and beyond what is necessary for the body to survive comfortably we should reject.
"The Bhagavatam says that this body is not meant for working hard simply for sense gratification.
nayam deho deha-bhajam nr-loke
kastan kaman arhate vid-bhujam ye
Bhagavatam 5.5.1"

World's gone mad. It will take more than 50 years to see beautiful corals on the Great Barrier Reef again, if the water doesn't keep warming in the area... Crazy year definitely!

It's been a crazy first part of the century. We're so focused on race, religion, & war while neglecting poverty, displacement, & pollution... We need unification and proper education before there's nothing left.

You said you were "gong crazy" in the third paragraph.

ha! Thanks for looking out. I wrote this last night after a couple beers and proof read it before. My proof reading needs work, lucky I have friends like you pap!

Seemed like you were on a rant, but I couldn't see your hand either!

Definitely a rant with this one haha.

I got one of those in the works too...
