Most of the time the crowd a man is following is not the right one, a crowd consists of many people and every person in the crowd has his / her own thoughts and every person may take things differently, it is possible that that they all may agree one thing and not agree on any other thing. For example if a product is used by a large amount of people, it does not mean that it is a good product. Similarly, if a large amount of people in a crowd are agreeing on one thing and the crowd with small amount of people agree on another, than it not necessarily has to mean that the crowd with larger amount of people is right.
Albert Einstein once said about women in a crowd:
"The woman who follows the crowd will usually go on further than the crowd. The women who walks alone is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before."
Taste begs to Differ:
Every man has his /her own views and thoughts about every aspect, he has likes and dislikes of his own, he may agree with one and disagree with the other. It may also be that he is following other for some wrong cause and also asking others on doing the same. Why would a man agree to follow a crowd which he knows is not a good thing to do? It may be that that the person leading the crowd is paying people to follow him.
Leader’s role:
There is always a leader who leads the crowd, a crowd with no leader ends up dispersing as the people do not agree to one another. A man needs to find his own path. A path that’s leads to the right direction, after he finds the right path people will start to follow him without him asking them to, this is the identification of a true leader, he does not ask people to follow him, his just shows the right way and people follow him themselves.
It was wisely said that:
"A good DJ is always looking at the crowd, seeing what they are like, seeing whether it’s working; communicating with them. Smiling at them. And a bad DJ is always looking down at what they’re doing all the time and just doing their thing that they practiced in their bedroom."
Conclusion:
In the end, one cannot just live a life that everyone wants him to. There is always something new to enjoy every day, one should find better ways of doing the things that have already been done in the past or come up with new, better and different things. A man who follows the crowd will usually or defiantly end up where the crowd has ended, but if that man walks alone he will come across many different paths that he didn’t see while he was walking with the crowd. One always needs to be in control of his own life, there should be no one important enough to be in control of his life. He needs to keep the joystick of this game called life firm in his hand and not let anyone else take control of it.
It was said that:
"A crowd thinks in images, and the image itself calls up a series of other images, having no logical connection with the first…a crowd scarcely distinguishes between the subjective and the objective. It accepts as real the images invoked in its mind, though they most often have only a very distant relation with the observed facts…crowds being only capable of thinking in images are only to be impressed by images."
No one makes it staying in the crowd. You need to come out of the crowd and be separate and distinct. Dare to be different in life. Be unique.
You can either be the follower or be the leader. Only about 4 of people are even able to be a true leader. This goes for your business people who risk everything to start a new company. That is your 4% of people who are the elite who make things for everyone.
I've tried to explain this concept to my children. I think when a parent gives this speech to their kids they just go deaf.....like what?! You expect me to not do what my friends and others are doing? Thankfully, some of that preaching eventually started getting through but only as they got older.....hope it sticks! Do what's right, not what's popular. If only politics worked like that too
@sameer777 you were flagged by a worthless gang of trolls, so, I gave you an upvote to counteract it! Enjoy!!
