A short while ago I was working in an office building with multiple cubicles, many of them filled by ambitious 20-something year olds. One day as I was going about my business I stumbled across this list posted up amongst the cubicles. The young lady who occupied this cubicle was in her mid 20s and never wore shoes in the office, which is why I remember her so well. The black boxes cover up the name of the company.
The list, for easy reading:
Must Haves
- +30 - 40
- Single
- NO BAGGAGE (e.g.: ex wife/fiance, dead girlfriend, horrific childhood memories just coming to the surface)
- University educated
- Smarter than me
- No criminal convictions
- Non-smoker/ non drug-user

- Home (own or rent)
- Steady income (aka - Real Job)
- No children
- Sense of humor
- Active/ adventurous
- Not Jewish
- Good teeth
- Scotch drinker
- Tidy
- Good dresser
- Can carry on a conversation when with strangers (You're a grown man, you shouldn't need a babysitter)
- Can handle his booze
- Knows how to use a telephone
- Good cook
- Handy around the house
- Makes enough $ to support himself
- Not a picky eater
- Music lover
Nice to Haves
- Home owner
- Good parents
- Vineyard
- Motorcycle (which he will let me ride)
- Never married
- Tattoos

- Smart friends
- Speaks another language
If this was a job then it would remain unfilled:
I can tell you right now I have never met any living or dead, fictional or real, man or woman who 100% fits this description. I don't drink scotch but I own a house and car. I'm active but not adventurous (and I'm not even sure what's going on with the 'Not Jewish' requirement). I think I'm a good dresser but I've been told that wearing a suit to the office is no longer in style, so perhaps I am wrong. I'm not technically a millennial either but if you look closely at the list, the required age is 30 to 40, which barely scrapes the millennial pool. Are millennial women perhaps not searching for millennial men?
These requirements are unrealistic; no man can fill all of them.
So the question remains, are millennial women expecting too much out of men?
If you translate this list into human understandable variant then you get this:
millennial women do not need men at all.
Though being a man of 30 I had my own list for a while but I finally understood that I simply don't need a woman for long term realtionship right now. Women are not comfortable being out of common standards so when they are asked about their absent boyfriends/husbends they tent to show lists like that is in the post.
