This Fortunate Father is Grateful

in #life7 years ago (edited)

What a great day I had yesterday! My family celebrated Father's Day on Saturday because my daughter's birthday was today. My wife and I are close to being empty nesters and I had all but one of my children here, plus a son-in-law. We grilled T-bone steaks, veggies out of the garden and a good bottle of wine.

I have an amazing family despite the fact that as a father I've screwed up plenty. But, thanks to the grace of God and marrying up the way I did. My wife (a.k.a. Supermom), made up for a lot of my deficiencies.

My heart is full. I am so fortunate. I have nothing of any substance to warrant complaining. Not one day goes by that I don't see or hear of someone who has it far worse than me. What a great life I have.

I hope all you fathers had a great day today.

I'd love to hear about your day.

Wow... that's a really lovely tribute to fatherhood... from "the other side of the table." I'm merely a "proxy dad" myself... although my wife's three (now adult) kids seem to think of me more as their dad than their biological dad.

We're all grateful to be in each other's lives.

Thanks @denmarkguy . A wonderful compliment coming from you. One of my best friends is a "proxy dad" as you say. If you're anything like he is, your step-children are truly blessed to have you in their lives.

Thanks be to God! It is all in His hands.

Yes indeed.
