Wow, very insightful post @jacobts and I couldn't agree with you more. Especially now that we are going to see some waves up ahead. I want to see who stays and weathers the storm and who jumps ship. Thanks for sharing.

I love Steemit. Don't get me wrong. I really do. Look, I met powerfully fascinating humans like you, BattleAxe, Seablue, Papa-Pepper, Sykochica, and was kinda star struck to meet StellaBelle. I have been helped out by the Viking himself Fyrstikken and am facinated by MrWang and RichardCrill amongst others. BUT right now we seem to be a Contest-Platform. And that is ok. It's just not what my non-steemit friends are looking for. I thought this was a new social media platform to stay in touch, share beautiful sunrises, and healthy info. It was in the news as a platform to champion free speech. But right now it is contests, pitting us against each other. I am thankful to have won a grant to Steemfest. So I am the pot calling the kettle black. But I know once there, I hope to have an opportunity to remind us of another old paradigm, one that goes back 500 years, the paradigm of IMPROV and Yes And. The watershed moment in my improv career was when Tim Robbins & Cynthia Ettinger were addressing our class and commenting on society, "Our society is being torn apart by the demands of money and the temptations of war. We in the arts give our audiences an opportunity to remember and reflect on our humanity. And it is our compassion for one another that holds the greatest value." I see such a potential for simply living our lives away from the computer and then sharing those stories with one another. I am looking forward to Lisbon to share how we can "Yes And" Appreciate Each Other's Humanity to realize our fullest potential. For now, the contests and raffles reign supreme. And I must Yes And that flow. My next post will be the Greatest Contest on Steemit. Much love to you and yours, may you spend some nice time with family simply enjoying the day.
You are a very passionate person, you write really well and from the heart. I agree with you on everything you say and as you know money is the root of all evil, its breaks apart marriages, friendships, etc. But I tend not to surround myself around greedy people. And you seem to be the same:) We can go with the flow and do our best in life :) Have a great weekend with your family too and thanks for sharing :0)
