is there anybody who has never lied before? why is it so hard, nowadays, not to lie? is it something we do to get what we want or not to get into trouble?
sometimes lying is a good thing. let me explain. if your wife cooked you a not so delicious dinner and you don't want to hurt her feelings by saying "ugh... you should have invested your time in attending a cooking class instead of wasting your time on cooking this aweful dish". i mean, who would say that to somebody you love and respect. as the wife i wouldn't even want to hear the truth.
lying is a cooperative act. think about it, a lie has no power whatsoever by it's mere utterance. it's power emerges when someone else agrees to believe the lie. so if i got lied to, it's because i agreed to get lied to. sometimes we are willing participants and sometimes we are not. we all have our dreams and goals in life, but not everybody can achieve those goals. so what do we do to fill those gaps? we lie. it is an attempt to bridge that gap, to connect our wishes and fantasies.
studies show that a person lies between 10 to 200 times a day. the question is how can i live a honest life? in my opinion it starts with a decicion every person needs to do for themselves every day. it's my goal i want to reach and i am going to do my best to be a honest person. i don't want to be lied to, so i don't want to lie to the person next to me. it all starts with a decision, as i said. do unto others as you would have others do unto you!
have a nice start into the week...
