What you really need is incremental progress.
When we want to get rich, we increase our wealth coin by coin. When we want to lose weight, we lose a pound every week. When we want to read a 300 page book, we read 10 pages a day. Everything worthwile in life simply takes patience and time.
You may see people that have risen to the top very quickly. But you don't realise they have been making progress for the last decade. It seems like they came out of nowhere but they were just really patient. I see a lot of people who want to, for example, get into programming languages. They think it's an easy way to quick success because the IT profession is in demand. However, most IT pros have been grinding since they were young because IT was their passion. They chipped away for years.
Expecting instant gratification will get you nowhere.
