It is such a shame this unusual looking animal is nearing extinction. I looked them up and found in 2015 200,000 Saiga died in kazahkstan. They all dies of an internal infection caused by warmer climate and higher humidity. “The fact that P. multocida infection in saigas... appears strongly linked to high humidity and temperature is of concern going forward, given that a climate change–induced increase in temperature is projected for the region over the short to medium term”. On top of that many have died due to poaching increase. It is sad we are wiping out so many animals on this planet.
