RE: 4 Steps To Exit Your 9-5 Job

in #life7 years ago

Congratulations for this video, and your courage is something that deserves respect.

I decided to become a freelancer and avoid 9 to 5 jobs at any cost before getting out of high school, because I realized back then that going to a job you hate just to make some money and survive, for the rest of your life, is not worth, and I'd rather do something completely different.

Once again, congratulations for your video and for your courage, keep up the good work!

Thanks @raikuhen.
What is the biggest mistake you see new people make transitioning into freelancing?

I think there are two main mistakes almost everyone makes that I did too when I first started:

  1. People don't realize that just because you're not on a 9 to 5 job that doesn't mean you can do whatever you want, whenever you want. Most would argue that making money online is way harder than making money on a 9 to 5 job. That means you need a schedule, a plan, and you need to put in a lot of work. I personally had to force myself to wake up every day at 8 in the morning and work for more than 10 hours a day, because building a sustainable income online takes more time than just going to a normal job. Once you get there everything gets easy, but until then, you need to work a lot.

  2. A lot of people expect to make money online really fast, just because it's "the internet", and a huge percentage of those people give up. There is not a special place online where there is a certain amount of money that is given to people who do stuff. The money you receive as a freelancer are from the people who appreciate your work. You want money, you need to work hard. If you would not sell a crappy product in real life expecting someone to actually buy it, you shouldn't do it online either. Money comes hard. You need products, you need a reputation, and you need to work a lot. Sadly, a lot of people are not aware of this and they just give up before they make anything.

Thank you for the reply! :)

What a fantastic reply. Thank you so much for passing on some knowledge. There are some real gems in here.

One idea really hit home. I wouldn't try to sell a piece of junk on a store shelf, so why would I provide an online product that isn't stellar. Things don't just sell because it is online. It takes more hard work than a 9-5.

I really appreciate that you gave your time to write this. Thank you.
