What Dalai Lama said is absolutely correct (Maulana Azad in his Freedom at Mid-night also stressed this point). Nehru, albeit a learned man, was autistic and this was also clear from stopping the war in J&K when the Pakistani invaders could have been sent back to Pakistan, and the whole J&K would have been in one country not divided by the Brit Jews. However, it was Nehru who housed the Tibetans in Dharamsala and that saved the Lamas from utter disaster. In the division of India, it was Gandhi's fault and he paid the price within a year when an RSS man killed him. The present generation, especially the Hindu Taliban (BJP/RSS/VHP..) have no regard to this part of the history of Indian independence.

We were just fools back then. No experience in governance for the past 1200 years left us utterly hungry for power and Brits saw that as an opportunity to create 2 enemy market states. Since then there has been a constant boom in the defense spending due to this rivalry.

India would have remained united if as per Gandhi all Hindus would have turned, bent down and said to Jinnah "Jahapanah tussi great ho tohfa kabool karo". Or it would have remained united if Gandhi would have died earlier and Subhas Chandra or Savarkar would have become PM. In that case, Tibet would have also remained a separate country without any war with China. India is suffering due to mistakes of Gandhi & Nehru.
