'The Little Prince' Not just a fairytale.

in #life7 years ago

It is the second most read book in the world and one of the best-selling books ever published worldwide, translated into 300 languages. At first sight we have the impression it is just another fairytale, but it is more than that.

The author asks children for forgiveness for dedicated this book to a grown - up, to his best friend, or even better, as he said, to the child whom this grown-up once was.

Just like in mythology, this book contains an immense number of signs and symbols, whose intended meaning may lead to a journey into yourself, a journey of self-discovering and deepening our self-awareness. Therefore, these symbols can represent different meanings, emotions and interpretations to each of us. In the following articles, that I am about to write, I should nevertheless like to share with you my thoughts on the main symbolic meaning.

Reading between the lines of this book, we could learn a lot regarding friendship, love and we could realize that we live our lives the wrong way in the modern world and distracted from the real value of life.

Despite the fact that the main character is a prince, according to the title of the book, he is not dressed like one. Even if he is the only resident in his planet, he wears always bow ties. So why is he choosing this appearance, when no one is there to notice?

At this point I would like to raise some questions for you: Whenever you are alone at home do you keep it as clean and tidy as if your boyfriend/girlfriend was around? Do you prepare the lunch for yourself as if you prepare it for your boyfriend/girlfriend? Do you select your best dinnerware set for this dinner? Obviously you don’t. We all believe that there is no need to treat ourselves with the same care as you would treat the special person in your life. Although, I think that this is a reflection of our low self-esteem. We should build our sense of self-worth. Boost yourself on this way and take out time to acknowledge that you do matter. A Greek poet once said: “love yourself, go yourself for a walk, buy for you inspirational books, talk nice to yourself, travel yourself and feed yourself well. There will never be for you a better fellow, friend, lover than yourself.” In so doing, learning to truly love yourself, you will learn to search for people that feed your soul and you will keep them in your life. Choose the lifestyle and pave the way for a healthy living and when I say “healthy” I mean health not only for the body, but also for your mind and your soul.

This was just the beginning, my initial thoughts regarding the cover page. Stay tuned for some extra food for thought raising from this book. Take care!
