So, I remember perusing a report of the Congressional Select Committee on the efficacy of torture in obtain vital intelligence. It has asserted that torture not anymore effective at obtaining intelligence than other softer methods.
When taken in with other scientific research on the matter, it truly debunks the enhances modern torture methods as a means to get actionable information. Yet it is still used widely across the world. Why do you think that is? Is it likely that we will move beyond accepting torture as a viable means of information gathering?
from what i read the senate found the torture only confirmed information they already had and was otherwise pointless.
I would say chances are it will stick around forever, regardless of how advanced we become simply because some people enjoy inflicting pain on others, as well as the fact a large number of people care little for science, think religion, global warming etc
