- In Singapore, It has been illegal for men to wear long hair!
A Singapore government policy forbidding any man to wear long hair came into effect in the 1960s. This was in response to the growing popularity of the hippie subculture worldwide.
The government has judged this influence negative and detrimental to the country's development. Foreign men who wore hair at that time were asked to leave the country. Among other things, the two famous music groups, the Bee Gees and Led Zeppelin , were all forced to cancel their concerts in Singapore because their members had long hair. This ban was lifted in the 1990s.
