It's a Netflix night and we are looking for comedies. Josie found the movie, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I hesitantly agreed to watch it. I guess we were not going to watch a comedy.
The movie was released in 2003. It received a 42% on Rottentomatoes.com (thank God I didn't see that before the movie started). It starred Matthew McConaughey (it took two days to spell that name) and Kate Hudson. It was based on the book by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long. The screenplay was written by Kristin Buckley, Brian Regan and Burr Steers (Burr? Really?). It was directed by Donald Petrie (yeah, like "petrie dish"). I have to be honest with you: that paragraph took a really long time to write because of all the jacked up names. Too bad my interest in this movie did not last that long.
But I digress.
The movie was about a gal (Hudson) as a columnist at a popular New York magazine. She decides to write an article that will show she can make a man fall in love with her and then dump her within a 10 day period. The guy (McConahay, however you spell his name. Movie ain't worth copying and pasting his name) is a an advertising executive that has bet made a bet that he could have any woman he picks fall in love with him within 10 days. If it works out, he gets a huge account. Shockingly, he sees Hudson at a bar and says she will fall in love with him.
Normally, this is the time I tell you that I cannot tell you more because I do not want to ruin the movie for you. But this is a "chick flick" so the secret is already out. They fall in love, crap goes south and hate each other, realize they love each other and live happily ever after.
F*** my life!
This is the part where I criticize the film. I don't see the point. This is the typical "chick flick". It starts and ends the same way. If you are going on a date, take your girl. You will get laid. If you are a a girl with a new boyfriend, take him. He will go because he will think he is going to get laid and you will get to watch it. Nothing cinematography is, well, whatever. The acting sucked (typical of a "chick flick").
Josie gives the movie a 3 out of 5 stars (it would have been higher but the guy and gal tried to hard). I give it a 1 out of 5 stars cause, well, I am a man and this movie bored me.
