Can you actually 'live in the moment'?

What happens next, what next?

That's the thought perpetually crossing my mind but never seems to be answered.

It is tough in life to live fully in the moment unless you are completely absorbed in an activity. To me that is why hobbies are so addictive, they become passions, something you love doing and wish you could do all day every day. Your mind is fully zoned in on the task whether it is sport, art or watching Game of Thrones with full surround sound...

If you are lucky enough to be one of those people who have been able to turn a hobby into a passion and into a career, a way of life, then I imagine there is less thinking of what next but simply the here and now.

Constantly living in the moment.

The old phrase 'If you love your work, then you will never work a day in your life' is almost a measure of success, certainly if you believe motivational posters. If you listen to motivational speakers you'll be led to believe that you need to double down on your one true calling, find your why and relentlessly chase it for ever and ever. Do I have to, can't I just live in the moment?

But is that even really possible? or should we be thankful to have found a passion that we are lucky enough to pursue, even just in our free time.
