"Buy 24, Get Regret Free"...
I miss the times where you were able to receive 3x500ml cans for 10,000 GS. (Paraguayan money - was around little more than one dollar these times) from a good brand at every small shop on a corner. Now you can be happy if you find 3x300ml for 10,000 from a cheap brand where the beer tastes more like water...
Since I live in Vietnam now, beer is so cheap that you don't even think about the cost when buying is but I also know I am living in a very odd place in the world right now. Whenever I travel anywhere else, including to visit my family in Mexico, I am kind of alarmed at how much things cost. The idea that someone would pay $10 for a standard draught beer is just crazy talk to me and I don't think that beer should ever be expensive. I was recently in an airport and decided to have a beer and this was the "cheap" bar in the airport and the beers were still $10 each. Sure, it was an airport so you expect it to be expensive, but to me now, where I live, beer is something that is always cheaper than bottled water, which makes no sense.
Yes, cheaper than bottled water sounds crazy. Maybe it is to calm down the population? Do a lot of people drink beer there? Often? In vietnam, there are any major problems? I look forward to gain a bigger insight into Vietnam via your blog!
