Karl Ferdinand Gutzkow, born on 17 March 1811, was a German playwright, writer and journalist. He was also an important leader of the * "Jungdeutsche Bewegung" and is considered an important representative of ** Early Realism in Germany.
He published some respected works, one of which was even banned. This ban was preceded by a smear campaign against "Junges Deutschland", which affected several writers.
With increasing age, Gutzkkow also suffered more and more from psychological problems, which earned him months in a psychiatric sanatorium.
In several cities in Germany and Austria streets and squares were named after him.
*"Junges Deutschland" was a literary movement of young, liberal-minded poets during the pre-March period.

Mit zunehmendem Alter litt Gutzkkow auch immer öfter an psychischen Problemen, was ihm Monate in einer psychiatrischen Heilanstalt einbrachte.
In mehreren Städten in Deutschland und Österreich wurden Straßen oder Plätze nach ihm benannt.
