In the modern era (recent time), war has been defined as a state of armed conflict between different countries or different groups within a country but in this contemporary era (present time), war goes beyond armed conflict, to cyberspace and the use of economic power.
Man has since the beginning of time engaged in so many wars aiming to foster peace and process.
if you want peace, prepare for war
By Roman General Publius Flavius Vegetius Renatus
War has in all it quest, failed to solve human problems, certainly not peace, not reduction in poverty, not increase in employment levels, not camaraderie among nations.
Between 1900 and 2000 there were many wars, most notable of them, World war I, World war II and the cold war
AIMS OF WORLD WAR I AND HOW THEY FAILED
The British and French wanted somehow to crush Germany’s military capability, both as revenge and as insurance against a second conflict . They also came to want to carve up the Ottoman Empire between them, and to allow the component parts of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to set up independent states.
US President Wilson also hoped to establish world peace through a League of Nations, which also became an allied war aim.
The war ended in over 10 million deaths and it aims failed in its entirety; no carving up of Ottoman empire occurred, Germany's power increased and subsequently led to world war II, a second conflict.
AIMS OF WORLD WAR II AND HOW THEY FAILED
A major factor in causing World War II was the Wall Street Crash of 1929 resulting in a 2-year economic depression all over the world. Not only did these cause countries such as Britain and France to take a less active foreign policy, but also it destroyed the newly found prosperity in Germany and made many people jobless. This led to Hitler quickly taking power as he promised a new strong Germany.
Adolf Hitler promised Germans a strong Germany, in other words, a peaceful and prosperous country..... Of course, Germany became prosperous, but it didn't last. Adolf Hitler sought to cement Germany's economic growth thereof by building up military might and building a military wedge far from itself in eastern europe (soviet union) and in western europe (Britain and France). The war that ended gave birth to minute wars but most notable was the Cold war between America Source
AIMS OF THE COLD WAR AND HOW THEY FAILED
The United States hoped to share with other countries its conception of liberty, equality and democracy. With the rest of the world in turmoil, struggling with civil wars and disintegrating empires, the nation hoped to provide the stability to make peaceful reconstruction possible. Unable to forget the specter of the Great Depression (1929-1940), America now fostered its familiar position of free trade, and sought to eliminate trade barriers both to create markets for American agricultural and industrial products, and to ensure the ability of West European nations to export as a means to generate economic growth and rebuild their economies. Reduced trade barriers, it was believed, would promote economic growth at home and abroad, and bolster stability with U.S. friends and allies. The Soviet Union had its own agenda.
The united states achieved some its stated aims, peace not being one of them. To achieve some the aims in one case, the united states decided to arm the mujahideens to bleed the soviets read here. This goal may have seemed to be a success until 9/11, when Osama Bin Laden destroyed the twin tower in the United States and killing over 3000 people, pushing the united states again into another war in Iraq. Osama Bin Laden was one of USA tool in Afghanistan
Money started pouring in. CIA agents starting going all over the Muslim world recruiting people to fight in the great jihad. Bin Laden was one of the early prize recruits. He was not only an Arab. He was also a Saudi. He was not only a Saudi. He was also a multimillionaire, willing to put his own money into the matter. Bin Laden went around recruiting people for the jihad against communism.
I first met him in 1986. He was recommended to me by an American official of whom I do not know whether he was or was not an agent. I was talking to him and said, ‘Who are the Arabs here who would be very interesting?’ By here I meant in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He said, ‘You must meet Osama.’ I went to see Osama. There he was, rich, bringing in recruits from Algeria, from Sudan, from Egypt, just like Sheikh Abdul Rahman.” Read here
*Today the United States is busy fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan, offshoot of the mujahideen they armed
When we declare war for peace, we may win the war and lose the battle.”
