RE: The Perfect Weekend: The Simple Things Really Are The Best.

in #life7 years ago

Thanks for that !
I am originally from the UK, but after 20 years of traveling, I always keep coming back to Asia. - Thailand.
We have a small bungalow, on the edge of a semi jungle environment. So lots of nature and wildlife. ( I even have no problems with the cobra's and pit viper, to be honest)
I think the problem communicating the value of the simplicity, to thors not in that place, is a time issue.
Their perception of time is different than ours, and so the 'energy' is different. - like speaking the same language, but with two very pronounced dialects, that are not sympathetic to each other ears - not a good explanation, but maybe you see what I mean?
I grew up in a farming family, and was very keen t get away from it - wayyyy to boring.
In retrospect, I see how at peace with everything my dad was, and all the answers were there- not in the dozens of countries, and cities I went chasing around the word, to see.
He was wise enough to not bother saying anything, and wishing me luck as I set off !
Here is a present - I just took this - our resident gecko - we call him Godzilla, because in the gecko world, he pretty much is! - he's massive! lol
Enjoy!

What a wonderful history, thank you for sharing. I've been to Thailand once and found it very relaxing and I admire you for being able to take the step to move there, I'm sure there would have been lots of challenges in that regard including how to support yourself in an environment dissimilar to the one you grew up with. It sounds like you have a little Slice of Heaven there and it's something that I would like to entertain for us actually in the future possibly. It's not a move well suited to the horses however so there are always various considerations. Thanks so much for the picture, that little guy is really cute

No really, nothing to admire- have been traveling for too long, for anywhere to be 'something of a challenge'. It's a learned skill, like most things.
I definitely wouldn't inflict the heat and humidity on any horses that haven't grown up here!

Learned skill maybe but still an achievement in my eye. All the little details to potentially fall foul of... I suppose once you've visited often enough you come to pick up on most things.

The horses are Egyptian Arabians, well suited to the heat and difficulties of hot climates. They'd settle in fine, it's more the available space I'd be concerned about as I'd asume there isn't much in the way of agistment that way.

I would assume not, but I really don't know.
(it doesn't make much sense sense - pastures are not exactly abundant !)

I just took these - 45 mins ago - pre, and post cooking - thought you would appreciate them...

the pic with the fence in ?- the jungle is just on the other side!

cheers!

Wow! Thank you for the pics. They are indeed worth a thousand words. Parsley, right? Do you have your own chooks?

cilantro - but we have parsley - we have lots of everything -'herby'
(my girlfriend grow thai basil - different than European basil -oops you have been to Thailand, sorry - 'kapow' dish, you probably know - that herb flavor. My g/f supplies local markets here it - I was telling she could sell direct , all over the world for freshly picked, organic produce - freshly picked and and shipped in 24 hrs - but she doesn't seem too bothered-It's the Thai way
lol
