Continue From "Thick Skin Are Always Around....."

On One year on Chinese new year time, we have big assignment to do maintenance. This time we need to replace the crane rail for half of the hall. And need to re-rail the whole hall.

We need special hydraulic jack (Hydraulic hollow cylinder) for pushing the rail to close the gap between each other. We do not have Hydraulic hollow cylinder and need to borrow from other department.

In our company we only have one set of Hydraulic hollow cylinder and we do not enough to do the project. We need at least two set to do the job to handle. We need to get another one more set to do the job and I propose our management to buy the equipment. This is the problem with people and they not agree to buy the unit.

I am not so happy with our management because they become so stingy for no reason. So I told them we cannot do the job. They angry at me because of my reaction and I suggest the to do with the contractor because of lack of equipment and high risk for all of us. They throw back to me the problem and invite who those can provide the service to view the project.

All the contractor cannot provide their service because of lead time period is only 3 days to complete the job. I bring them to my supervisor and let them know the issue. And they quoted very high price for their service and I show my management about the price. They was shock because of the price.

As for me, I left for them to decide what they want to do with it. They hold for the issue for the last minutes and end up I have to do the project by myself. This time I predict correctly and before they ask me to do, I already prepare all the project off-line and I borrow the hydraulic jack from one of the contractor.

But I still ask my management to purchase the equipment after the project. When the day come we need to start to remove 6 damage rails and removing old rail clamp. But we do not bring down to the floor because of minimize our working hours. For the new rails, we already put up before the event day. So that we safe a lot of time for the job.

And also we bring up some MIG Welding machines and weld all the rail clamp on Sunday before the Chinese New Year holidays. We push all the rail to close gap in between but at the end rail we have total gap about 10 inches and need to place at the end of the outside the hall was very dangerous and challenging for us.

So we remove the last rail and cut shooter and replace with two longer rail to get stable railing for the over-head crane to move smoothly and longer life spend. And other issue was lack of man power to weld all the clamp and tightening all the bolt for securing the rail. We face the problem with cannot complete the job.

We need to rush back to complete and do some overtime to complete the job. Stop other job that repairing and overhauling machines and called other crews to help us to join with us. if the railing replacement and repairing job are not complete we cannot start our production on the next day.
